Objective of the Position:

The Operational Data Management Team within Siemens PG PR R&D DIG is looking for project engineers to help with the remote commissioning of the Turbine Analysis Platform WIN_TS.

The WIN_TS is a Windows based diagnosis server which is connected to the control system of the turbine (e.g.: SPPA-T3000) to collect I&C signals and messages. Furthermore, there are several 3rd-party systems connected to the WIN_TS network (e.g.: Delphin Flight Recorder, Argus, Vibration Analysis…) collecting detailed information and exchanging data with WIN_TS. With the Siemens standard remote solution cRSP (common Remote Service Platform) the WIN_TS is securely connected to the internet and reachable from all over the globe. The collected data is transferred to the Turbine Data Cloud (TDC) where already twenty years of hundreds of turbine data is stored.

Primary Accountabilities of the Role: You will be working closely with our team in Erlangen to perform the remote commissioning of new sites as well the service projects. Therefore, you will be in contact with site staff to coordinate server and network setup. Once the WIN_TS is set up and its network is connected, you configure the interfaces to the control system and the 3rd-partys and starting the data transfer. Furthermore, there are several tools, processes and rules to handle so that the incoming data files are processed correctly to our TDC.

Job tasks include:

           Communication & Collaboration with site staff and Colleagues in Erlangen.

           Configuration of the WIN_TS network including the 3rd party system

           Configuration of the firewall between WIN_TS and control system

           Configuration of the interface to the control system (OPC classic, OPC UA, Replicated Archive)

           Configuration of the interface to the 3rd Party systems (e.g.: OPC, fileshare, ftp, Profibus…)

           Scheduling work according to commissioning progress

Required Knowledge/Skills and Experience:

           Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Information Technology/ Controls/Electronic Engineering or similar.

           5 to 10 years of engineering work experience 

           3+ years of relevant engineering experience

           Experience in basic IP networking (routing, switches…)

           Experience configuring firewalls/ Routers (e.g.: SCALANCE / CISCO)

           Competent handling of Windows Server OS (e.g.: Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016)

           Experience in industrial standard communication (OPC classic and OPC UA)

           Experience in plant time synchronization schemes using GPS antenna/master clock/NTP

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

           CCNA/ CCNP/MCSE/ MCSA Certification preferred

           Strong knowledge in VPN

           CRSP router & Terminal Server configuration

           Experience on Siemens DCS SPPA-T3000

           Knowledge of major components of power plants

           Practical knowledge of database and scripting tools like MS Access, Python, Visual basic etc.

           Solid experience with working in a global team

           Ability to travel in India & globally to various sites

           Ability and willingness to learn new fields, Committed to personal development and continuous improvement

           High flexibility in taking new tasks/responsibilities

           Excellent written and verbal communication skills
