Siemens Industry Software GmbH is a leading global provider of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software allows companies to manage the entire lifecycle of a product efficiently and cost-effectively, from ideation, design and manufacture, through service and disposal. Computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), computer-aided engineering (CAE), product data management (PDM) and digital manufacturing converge through PLM.

We provide competitive salaries, a team-oriented working environment with a flat organizational structure, exciting and challenging projects for renowned clients and interesting career prospects. In addition, we offer a multitude of developmental opportunities and the possibility of taking advantage of our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.

Join our team as a “Finite Element Computational Electromagnetics Developer (m/f/d) – SISW”  in our office in Nuremberg.

The STAR-CCM+ team is seeking a motivated developer to contribute to the development of the STAR-CCM+ electromagnetic solution.  Computational electromagnetics is one of the recent exten-sions of STAR-CCM+ multi-physics solver family. The traditional finite volume flow centric code is being extended to allow optimal discretization for computational electromagnetics, solid mechanics and complex polymer fluids. This means new challenges, frequent enhancement and re-architecture of established solver components towards efficient finite element support.
The primary goal of the development is to expand the modeling capabilities and support simulations of low frequency electric machines integrated into STAR-CCM+ for efficient multi-physics modeling in-cluding coupling to heat transfer, flow and solid stress models.

Job Description

The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design and development of components for finite element computational electromagnetics solver in-cluding
    • Modeling of magnetic and electric fields
    • Coupling of electromagnetic field solutions to other physics models
    • Development of discretization techniques required for high fidelity and robust solutions
    • Development of efficient linear solvers and preconditioners
  • Interaction with other STAR-CCM+ teams
  • Work in large, geographically distributed teams
Profile
  • Masters, PhD or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, applied math or computer science
  • Proven strong C++ development skills
  • Experience in large-scale software development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of algorithms and techniques used in finite element simulations of electric machines
  • Good working knowledge of numerical methods required for finite element electric and magnetic field solvers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with modern CPU optimization, vectorization and GPU programming is a plus
