About the role

New and challenging opportunity within Siemens Mobility as a General Legal Counsel, with responsibility to support the Mobility Business by driving policies, guideline and processes in line with legislative and compliance requirements.  

Key responsibilities

As the Legal adviser, you will support the Mobility executive and management team on company strategic and operational matters.

Strategically, you will be responsible for maintaining the company’s risk profile in line with defined policies, guidelines, processes and local legal requirements together with the management team.  Operationally the incumbent will be the custodian for all legal matters within the Mobility Company. Identifies and analyses legal risks and opportunities and drives solutions.

Legal and Contract Duties:

Ensuring business adherence to Siemens Mobility Policies and Processes

Advise and guide internal business partners on all contractual aspects related to projects/business during both acquisition and execution phase for Siemens Mobility.

Review, draft and negotiate various contractual (NEC and FIDIC) /corporate documents within sales operating area of Siemens Mobility (Southern Africa and East Africa).

Ensure new bids and quotations are in line with Siemens guidelines, policies and Limits of Authority;

Support the Project Management team to drive the PM@Siemens process including reporting requirements

Advise on labour law issues and coordinate with internal and external resources in labour disputes;

Provide input to the legal aspect of Mobility’s risk management process

Manage the resolution of legal disputes and external law firms;

Monitor and provide guidance regarding new legal developments that may impact the business.

Work and collaborate across Siemens teams at a local and global level;

What do I need to qualify?

Completed LLB Degree and must be an Admitted Attorney

At least 5 - 8 years relevant experience within an inhouse legal team and global corporate company

In-depth knowledge of and sufficient work experience dealing with, all general commercial/corporate laws and regulations in Southern Africa.

Strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills with proficiency in written and spoken English;

Flexible, solution-oriented, self-motivated individual with good business acumen;

Good communication skills and be able to work effectively with team members and with cross-function partners from different culture and professional backgrounds.

Willingness to travel to other African countries and abroad
