Technical Site Planner        

The Role                                                                                                         

We have an exciting opportunity for a competent Rotating Equipment Mechanical Engineer to join us in the capacity of a Technical Site Planner, working across the Siemens GP SDO product lines primarily in Steam but also covering Compressors and Gas Turbines both on and offshore. 

The role will suit an individual who is looking to be involved in the planning of outages which includes agreeing the scope of work alongside the Client Manager and Project Manager, as well as identifying the required manpower, parts, tooling and preparing RAMS for the outage.  

The role plays a key part in enabling our sales and project management team be effective in winning good quality business that is both profitable for Siemens and excellent value for our customers.

 

The challenge

You will need to be confident in front of customers and colleagues alike by having the key competencies and experience required to fully plan an outage which will enable all key stakeholders to execute the outage efficiently and in line with the customer expectation.

The Technical Planner will be required to plan their own day to day workload and organize themselves effectively to ensure all outages are planned and documentation is prepared in a timely manner.

You will be may also be asked to carry out “on the tools” work, if required, as a Lead Engineer to ensure you keep abreast of the issues faced by our engineers on site as well as keeping your experience and knowledge both fresh and up to date.

Attention to detail and an excellent understanding of rotating equipment will be key for the planner to be able to plan and prepare an outage for all key stakeholders.

Fundamentally you will be required to support the Project Manager, communicate the Outage Plan during the Pre-Mob Brief and help with technical issues either before or during the outage execution.

The person

  • Ideally Educated to degree level

  • Leadership Skills: Confident, enthusiastic and motivated individual who can deliver change management    

  • Excellent communication and listening skills                                                                              

  • Decision maker:  Ability to make commercial decisions and mitigate risk to the business

  • Problem solving and ability to think laterally                   

  • Strategic and open thinking to new ideas and processes            

  • IOSH Managing Safely as well as relevant Project Management training, quality training and leadership/management training                                                                             

  • Able to prepare and present Outage Plans and write FS Reports            

  • Contract Management / Risks and Opportunity management exposure                                                                                                                                                                           

You must have the following experience:
  • Experience within Medium / Large Organisations with an Engineering background, man management responsibility, commercial & financial management, background preferred Oil & Gas or service businesses, varied stakeholder management.

  • Extensive experience in organising large teams of service engineers and/or administration staff, ability to liaise with other stakeholders within the business, ideally an Engineering qualification, responsibility towards EHS and Zero Harm. Ability to implement new process and manage existing ones through a thorough auditing process.          

  • Able to gain the confidence of the key stakeholders that the Outage Plan is accurate and provides the detail to execute the outage accurately

  • Ideally experience with working with other countries/regions or wider product companies, working with internal support departments and customer facing functions
