Trade Finance - Guarantees Assistant Co-ordinator


Siemens are recruiting a Guarantees Assistant Co-ordinator to join our Trade Finance Advisory team in our head office in Frimley. We are looking for someone with an interest in Trade Finance, and who is looking to develop their knowledge particularly in the area of Guarantees. Should you wish to study towards a professional qualification, Siemens will support with your application to complete the ICC industry recognised qualification “CSDG”.


The Trade Finance Advisory “TFA” department manages Siemens UK’s substantial portfolio of bank and corporate guarantees, given in support of the UK’s product and services sales contracts. TFA also manage pricings for letter of credit confirmations across Siemens businesses.


Main responsibilities will include:


·     Analysis, and efficient, accurate processing of guarantees; to determine workability, ensuring that all ambiguities/contradictions are addressed and all potential risks concerning the wordings are raised and either accepted by the business or mitigated by revision.

·     Signing Guarantees; dependent on your level of experience and authority given, you may be required to act as a signatory (at the appropriate level) for the TFA team, which would include checking and signing guarantees and their amendments in preparation for issuance by the guarantor, ensuring these are processed in a timely and professional manner and in accordance with Siemens’ internal compliance guidelines.

·    Monitoring overdue (expired) guarantees; determining in conjunction with the TFA team, Legal departments and the business unit whether expired guarantees can be cancelled, and where applicable, negotiating the cancellation with the customers and the guarantor.

·      File management; maintaining proper and correct filing of all TFA-related documentation, both physical and digital.

·   Efficient processing of invoices; ensure all commission/payment invoices received from our banks and customers are accurately reviewed and calculated for correctness, and duly posted to the Accounting teams for payment.

·   Guarantee reconciliations; maintain the quarterly reconciliation of all guarantee liabilities, and the accuracy and validity of all relatable guarantee documents.

·    Supporting Project and Export Finance (PEF) projects; working alongside Siemens’ UK Head of PEF, provide support and co-ordination in respect to projects investigating export finance opportunities in countries such as Pakistan or India.

·    Compliance and audit checks; ability to develop working knowledge of Siemens’ compliance and audit requirements, performing regular checks and maintenance of specific TFA controls (applying a risk-based approach, and understanding when potential hits need to be escalated), and the production of all compliance and audit activities.


The ideal Candidate will:


·     A basic understanding of guarantees – what they are, how they’re used – or any applicable Trade Finance knowledge is preferable but not essential. We are willing to train the right candidate for this role.

·     Demonstrated ability to multitask and work independently, as well as work collaboratively with other local/regional/global colleagues and customers.

·     Excellent communication skills with a high level of numeracy, literacy, accuracy and attention to detail.

·     Ability to work methodically - using initiative to identify and resolve problems whilst maintaining service, performance, time scales and quality of output.

·     Self-motivated, with the ability to set priorities and manage to tight deadlines.

·     Willing to work flexibly within a small, established team.

·     Fully proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
