Siemens Corporate Technology is part of Siemens AG and is driving forward the further development of the core technologies of our products and systems. Together with our partners from universities and research institutions, we identify new future-oriented technologies and translate them into technology demonstrators and laboratory samples as the basis for product development.
The IoT Research Group has the responsibility to develop new solutions for deployment of advanced algorithms and processes in an Edge Computing environment. The main activities are related to AI Operationalization, Ultra Low Power Algorithm Deployment and Distributed Computing Optimization.
As an Industrial IoT Specialist, you will be required to participate in a broad number of international projects across all the group’s activities:  AI Operationalization, Ultra Low Power Algorithm Deployment and Distributed Computing Optimization.
Initiative and high technical flexibility are a must. You need the ability to understand and work both on embedded and distributed architectures, fulfilling individual project needs and pushing the field forward.
Your new tasks and responsibilities:
• Define high performance AI deployment scenarios targeting on-premise industrial setups
• Define High performance architectures focused on stability, scalability etc.
• Implement Edge Computing proof-of-concepts (PoCs); e.g. field sensor processing
• Analyze, monitor, and optimize performance of low HW resource systems
• Write landscaping reports on technologies, tools, methodologies in context of Edge Computing incl. recommendations (when to use what)
• Integration, commissioning and testing of IoT devices (embedded software and hardware)
• Acceptance and testing of own and third-party software modules, as well as control of external software service providers
• Conception, construction and test of laboratory samples, demonstrators and prototypes as well as planning, execution and evaluation of test and experimental measurements in the laboratory and at the customer
• Define, develop, and perform performance and scalability benchmarks leveraging / building tools created for this purpose
Your qualifications and experience:
• BS in Computer Science or a related field is required. Master’s in Computer Science or related field is preferred
• Experience with container technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
• Comfortable in both Unix / Linux and Windows environments
• Knowledge of AI frameworks e.g. Keras, TensorFlow, Caffe
• Comprehensive experience in the hardware-oriented programming of real-time operating systems on microprocessors
• OOP experience in C++
• Hardware experience: Arm Cortex
• Digital signal processing experience
• Ability to switch between programming (C#) or scripting (Python) languages
• Ability to find root-causes for tough performance / scalability problems
• Fluent communication in English
• Experience with pub-sub communication, e.g. RabbitMQ
• Relevant experience and knowledge related to Performance profiling
• Proven knowledge and experience with Architecture
• Must be a self-starter who will actively pursue results
• Ability to work both independently and within a team on multiple high priority projects
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
