Technical Support Engineer 

Our Regional Solutions & Services division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure is searching for a Technical Support Engineer for Fire Systems & Services. 

As the Technical Support Engineer you will provide technical support and training to our branch engineering and operational teams.

This role will primarily be office-based and would be an ideal career move for those with a technical engineering / electrical background looking for a change into a more internally customer focused opportunity providing training on our portfolio and supporting the team with technical queries.

You primary focus will be to provide technical support on fire products by telephone and email and delivery training courses to our sales teams, project managers and field engineers.  As mentioned above this role will be office based however you will be required to travel to our Manchester or Frimley site to deliver training. 

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Getting involved in product testing

  • Maintaining internal records of technical support activity

  • Keeping abreast of new technologies/products, and best practice

  • Providing market and technical feedback to internal teams

  • Maintaining & updating of existing training course material, and development of new training material

  • Actively share knowledge and information (e.g. via Extranet, FAQs, and other means)

  • Managing internal server files for technical documents

  • Reporting technical issues back to HQ hotline and pro-actively control known technical issues

  • Ensuring conformance to required health & safety guidelines and practices


What you need to make real what matters.

As the Technical Support Engineer, you will ideally come from a technical background with some experience of delivering training courses and providing technical support to an internal team.  Consideration will be given to those who do not have fire specific experience but have a continuous learning attitude as well as an aptitude to easily gain a technical understanding of our services and solutions. Having the confidence to train on these services and solutions is pivotal to this role as well.

  • You will be able to communicate with and train internal stakeholders at different levels

  • An interest in engineering and fire products & systems is essential  

  • The ability to take a logical and organised approach to fault-finding

  • Ability to understand technical products and systems

Location & Travel

Location is slightly flexible for this role, we are happy to consider those who are based in and around Manchester or Frimley.  You would be expected to deliver training in Frimley on average once a week and in Manchester on average once a quarter.  You would provide technical support mainly over the phone or by email unless the issue is complex and requires you to be present which may require further travel to other sites across the UK.

Wherever you are based, you will be well looked after with the range of facilities both sites have to offer.  Manchester is a large Siemens site which provides free parking and a lovely new, large canteen.  Our Frimley offices are the Siemens HQ offices where our main Smart Infrastructure Regional Solutions & Services team is based, here you will have free access to an onsite gym, free parking, a canteen and Starbucks coffee shop.
