The Operations Technician is responsible for supporting all aspects of operation, maintenance and
Engineering activities at Severn Power Station. The role requires a suitable level of engineering and
technical knowledge, with the aim of providing safe and reliable operation of plant and equipment to meet the Client’s operational and commercial requirements.

Monitoring and control of all plant and equipment on a continuous basis.
Responding to alarms by taking appropriate the actions in a timely manner.
Execute plant shut-down and start-up procedures as required within the allocated timeframe.
Follow processes and procedures to enable efficient plant operation, including utilisation of technical documentation and drawings.
Ensure that the plant meets its generating requirements whilst operating in a safe and efficient manner.
Supporting the Operations Manager and Engineers in the implementation and management of initiatives such as Asset Management, Risk Based Culture and Change Management at site.
Supporting the development and execution of operational associated KPIs, strategic and business objectives.
Utilise a computerised Plant Management System for Shift Log, Fault Notification and Work planning.
Support of Maintenance Department activities when required.
First line fault finding and maintenance activities on shift by shift basis.
Undertake technical training courses and qualifications as required with the aim of continued personal development.
Development and implementation of safe systems of work whilst carrying out the duties of an Authorised Person under the site safety rules.
Support Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Effects Analysis processes into site occurrences and incidents as required.
Deputise for the Maintenance Engineer as and when required.
Support and assist the Department and Station Management team in other activities as and when required.
Support other areas of the business onshore and offshore as and when required.
Use your skills to move the world forward.
Sound practical engineering and technical knowledge including the application of principles, techniques, processes and procedures to achieve the safe operation and maintenance of the power station.
Capable of carrying out the duties of an Authorised Person under the site safety rules.
Knowledge of logic-based control systems and their operation.
Power Generation / Heavy Industry operational and / or maintenance experience.
Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices.
Self-motivated with ability to effectively prioritise workload.
Ability to effectively and efficiently record and report plant relevant and critical information and statuses.
Proficient in the development of Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
Preferably educated to minimum level of HNC / ONC or equivalent level of qualification in engineering.
Minimum of 5 years operational experience, preferably within the Power Generation section.
Appreciation of H&S management processes and procedures.
