Project Engineer

Our Siemens PLM Consulting and Engineering Services is looking for Project Engineers across three different positional (Principal, Senior & Junior) levels to join our team in Japan.

The Siemens PL, Engineering and Consulting Services comprises a global team of over 300+ technical consultants. Using multi-domain and mechatronic simulation solutions, our engineering consultants help our customers achieve complex product design goals. The broad multidisciplinary engineering experience of our Engineering Services team ranges from noise, vibration and durability to system dynamics, vehicle handling, performance, emissions and safety. Our engineers are dealing with leading specialist in Automotive, Aerospace and high-tech industries. Engineering and Consulting Services has a flat organization with an open communication, whereby our engineers are challenged to use their engineering skills to tackle complex customer issues.

Initially you will receive an international training of 3-6 months in one of our offices around the world (Lyon, Leuven or Detroit). This training will prepare you to become a Project Engineer in the field of Model Based Design (MBD) and 1D Model Based System Simulation (MBSE), managing several projects within Japan while collaborating in an international team of Project Engineers. The focus of this position is to build a relationship with our customers, develop projects and deploy the results for our customers in Japan. Projects are mainly focused on using advanced 1D simulation techniques, developed within Siemens Software.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

As Project Engineer, your main task will be to identify and executing modelling, simulation and analytical tasks, so these can be translated into work packages for our customers. Throughout the project you will foster the relationship with our customers and keep track of their satisfaction, taking proactive actions to keep their satisfaction high.

As part of the project team you will be a valued member of the team, helping to contribute to our technology development, delivery of engineering results, articulating the values and needs of our customers to our customer project team and investigating the next steps after closing of a project and transferring leads to the Business Development Team.


  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Physics or related field
  • Simulation experience in 1D or 3D, with a strong preference for 1D (Amesim, Dymola, GT-Power, SimulationX, Simscape…)
  • Control experience (Simulink, LabView, ETAS ASCET…)
  • Language: Japanese JLPT N2 or N1 (or equivalent) and full English working proficiency
  • Industry experience in the Automotive sector or Off highway would give you an edge in your application
  • Preferably some project management experience
  • Preferably some experience/introduction in scripting/programming
  • Travel: 30%

As Project Engineer we are looking for someone who has good communication & presentation skills as good customer relations, follow-up and deployment are crucial aspects in this position. Being a Project Engineer makes you flexible and ready to work on tasks individually, but you also work together well in team.
