Scrum Master – SaaS Cloud Solutions

A brand-new team. A brand-new location. A brand-new opportunity.

If you’re a Scrum Master, you already know how critical it is to make the best use of Agile and Scrum practices in a team. You’ll know what makes a group of people work well together, and you’ll understand how to get the most out of self-organisation. We’re looking for our very first Scrum Master, based in Katowice, who will build our new SaaS team from scratch and be the leader for Agile and Scrum practices at the heart of this new group.

What will I do?

  • Build an outstanding team – you’ll hire great people and develop them into a high performing team by coaching, mentoring and guiding them to use Agile and Scrum practices and value to delight our customers
  • Solve problems – you’ll be the one to remove obstacles or blockers, either by using your skills and knowledge, or helping other to do this
  • Coach and educate Product Owner and Managers – you’ll help Product Owners to maintain the product backlog, and you’ll collaborate with Product Managers to help them prioritise what’s truly critical to our strategy

This role is at the forefront of our new team – you’re a leader. You’ll have a wide range of responsibilities and you’ll be the one people rely on to facilitate and enable decision making and problem solving. You’re at the heart of communication across the team, promoting transparency and connecting people at every opportunity. At Siemens, everyone can positively impact thousands of customers, and you will be called on to identify, realise, and drive these opportunities as our Scrum Master.

What’s needed to do this job successfully? 
We’re looking for three key things
  • Scrum Master experience
  • Software development and engineering knowledge
  • Outstanding coaching and mentoring skills

You’ll already need to be an experienced Scrum Master – someone who’s seen a lot of enterprise or engineering software development in at least one previous Scrum Master role, where you’ve had accountability for driving Agile and Scrum practices successfully. You’ll be comfortable working with various patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach – like numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc. You’ll also have experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games and the like.

You’ll need the expertise that comes along with a background in technical roles, so an education in a technical discipline and some experience on the ground to back that up. A background in electrical design might be an advantage too – but we’re not considering it a must-have.

We’ll hire someone who is a naturally authentic and capable leader; someone who can influence positively and inspire those around you to collaborate and innovate. You’ll be at your best when you’re driving transparency and a culture of continual improvement, and you’ll be the kind of person who thrives on coaching and mentoring others. Ideally, you’ll have had some experience of hiring and building a team – although, that’s not absolutely essential, it would certainly help you to have an understanding of what it takes to get a team started from scratch.
