EHS Officer Gas & Power EPC

The EHS Officer supports the Business Unit GP EPC in Mexico, Central America and Caribbean, maintaining an effective Global EHS Management System with focus on global processes, defining specific EHS related requirements and standards, and maintaining oversight of projects. Takes part in continuous improvement and execution of Siemens EHS global governance.

Guides and leads the EHS organization on BU level in the planning, execution, ongoing analysis and improvement of EHS related measures. Maintains and fosters close interaction with Country EHS Officers and Country BU counterparts.

Responsibilities

  • Leads all related management and staff and reports to GP EPC CEO and GP EPC LA EHS Officer. Serves as key contact for all EHS matters.

  • Plans and aligns the budget and personnel resources for EHS. Ensures an adequate competence management and training system for EHS in the BU.

  • Developing awareness about EHS issues. Knowledge of EHS and clear understanding of applicable standards.

  • Perform job safety analysis, hazard identification and risk management/analysis, formulate corrective action and inform site employees to mitigate and minimize impact.

  • Implement, and monitor projects and customer EHS policies and program as required with reference to related international standards.

  • Monitoring, improvement and reporting of EHS performance with relevant documentation and reports on daily, weekly and monthly monitoring.

  • Communication of EHS issues / instruction / warnings and lessons learned. Demonstrate high degree of professional presentation and leadership skills.

  • Attend Site Safety Audits and ensure closure of action items, NCR’s and observations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience: at least 8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge. At least 5 years as EHS officer in high voltage transmission projects or similar (oil and gas, generation or transmission business). At least 5 years of management experience (incl. leading teams, intercultural experience, project management experience).
  • Degree in technical education and/or EHS related/relevant fields (e.g. Safety Engineer) and/or recognized certificates (e.g. NEBOSH). Evidenced training/expertise in the broader spectrum of EHS topics. Expert level knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 management system and implementing/ managing management system elements. Proven experience in working with management systems.
