What is this opportunity?

We have a new and challenging opportunity for a Senior Controls Engineer to join our team based out of our Ajax office. In this role, you will develop very complex material specification, schematic preparation and follow-up to ensure proper and effective implementation. 

What will you do?

·       Develop very complex designs, including reliability, safety, testing and modifications of solutions.

·       Guide communication of very complex technical and commercial issues. Develop recommendations for very complex new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements.

·       Design end-to-end electrical solutions for complex material handling equipment.

·       Ensure robust designs that integrate reliability and regulatory compliance (e.g. Electromagnetic Interference, CSA)

·       Lead design integration activities with cross-functional engineering teams

·       Selection and application of machine safety systems

·       Creation of detailed, accurate technical data packages including schematics, assembly drawings and bills of material

·       Transfer designs to manufacturing; work closely with vendors and Siemens manufacturing organization to ensure high yield production

What will you need to succeed?

·       BSc Electrical Engineering (MSc EE preferred)

·       Professional Engineering certification

·       5+ years of relevant experience

·       Experience with Canadian and international safety codes and Enclosure design in accordance with CSA standards

·       Experience with Power distribution systems including DC, 120V,220V, 600V and 480V 

·       Experience with Motor controls including dynamic braking / speed control of induction motors and servo applications

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Ability to align stakeholders to execute the corporate and project strategy; impact and influence skills

·       Asset: Bilingual English/French written and verbal communication skills
