Sr. Repair Service Engineer (Steam Turbines/Recip Compressor)- Houston, TX

Job Description

Position Summary


As a Repair engineer, you will provide expertise and support for all product Lines in the service centers. This includes all Siemens equipment as well as, all other OEMs. The Repair Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the department, mentoring project engineers, providing technical support to customers and others throughout the services organization.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supply Engineering support to help resolve repair issues in the Service centers and at customer site.
  • Provide Engineering support to troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Become familiar with all existing DR processes and procedures.
  • Recommend, qualify and implement new repair procedures
  • Develop new repair standards
  • Develop repair templates to be used in the DR operating system.
  • Assist in qualifying  service centers for specific repair processes(ex. riveting, thermal sprays) as well as general product repair capability(ex. Datum disassembly/reassembly)
  • Review repair opportunities and identify possible Risks.
  • Review repair opportunities for applicability of upgrades and revamps
  • Make decisions on acceptability of components that do not meet new equipment drawing tolerances/requirements or current repair standards.
  • Interface with factory(PCC) product engineering as necessary
  • Review and evaluate customer repair scopes to determine feasibility of repairs
  • Handle customer complaints and develop corrective actions for any repair non-conformances

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical/Industrial/Engineer Technology)
  • 8 years professional experience related to the repair service of turbomachinery
  • Hands on experience within Repair Shop utilizing problem solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with other functions within all depts.
  • Strong communications within all levels
  • Experience with customer interfacing
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of at least one of the following; centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, reciprocating compressors, integral gas engines, hot gas expanders.
  • Travel up to 20% domestic/international

Preferred Skills/Experience/Knowledge

  • Auto CAD
  • Knowledge of Siemens and Dresser-Rand equipment
