Baseline Requirements:

·       Currently enrolled as a University of Cincinnati student

Product Engineering Software

As a Co-op in Product Engineering Software (PES), you will dive into developing our premiere NX CAD software. Projects in this organization will build off each other. Each successive co-op rotation in PES will expand on a new area of the software development lifecycle. You may work on business critical projects in quality assurance, business analytics, prototypes for new releases, automated tests, test results analysis, etc. You will have the opportunity to partner with senior engineers and push the limits on our project teams to:

·       Learn our software needs and functionality

  • Draft design and coding documentation for future development expansion
  • Create parts and assemblies
  • Design and implement new test cases
  • Interactively test NX through scheduled automated suites
  • Analyze test results and provide insights on detected problems

Organization Requirements:

  • Prior experience with CAD software is required

  • Studying Mechanical Engineering

  •   Knowledgeable in object oriented concepts is preferred but not required

  • Experience with computer-aided design or engineering software

  • Passion for design, engineering, and programming

Engineering Consulting Services

Engineering and Consulting Services (ECS) is an organization within Siemens Digital Industries Software that helps to lead our customers through business transformation, digitalizing their business with engineering and manufacturing solutions. The ECS organization provides a platform for integrating process-oriented solutions that bring value to our customers by tying together our portfolio of software products.  The ECS team has responsibilities to develop commercial software, provide specialized engineering services, lead internal strategic programs and deliver high value consulting services.

As part of our Spring 2020 Strategic Student Program, the ECS Trending Solution team is recruiting a graduate co-op. The candidate will work to define best practices for Systems Modeling, leveraging Arcadia and SysML methodologies. Tasks include modeling customer needs, expressed as capability needs, system development processes and engineering information; with Siemens DI SW integrated products offerings.

  • Leverage your System Modeling skills
  • Leverage and gain stronger understanding of industry system development practices with emphasis on co-engineering best practices between system, safety, electrical and software engineering.
  • Currently enrolled in a university pursuing a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, System Engineering or a related field.
  • General awareness and understanding of Systems Engineering, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) theory and practice.
  • Awareness on the role of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
  • Practice in using an Engineering tool such as Simulation, Electrical, CAD in previous Co-Op engagements, internships or university projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Capable of independent work as well as collaborative development
  • Commanding grasp of Microsoft office

Sales and Services

Presales – Simulation-Test-Services (STS)

As part of the STS presales team, you will work closely with Solution Consultants, Solution Architects, Application Engineers in the alignment and deployment of the STS application suite to a broad customer based across multiple industries. Industries include but not limited to – Aerospace, Automotive, Heavy Equipment, Emerging Markets, High Tech Electronics and Consumer products.  Student will be exposed to various aspects of the sales process and customer support including benchmarking, proof of concept solution validation, marketing. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the creation and solution of 3D Finite Element Simulation Models
  • Play a key supporting role in creation and validation of Simcenter proof of concepts for customers
  • Play a key supporting role in creation and validation of Simcenter benchmarks for customers and prospects
  • Support the creation of standard industry specific demonstration material across the suite of Simcenter tools
  • Support the gathering of analysis requirements from current and prospective customers
  • Currently enrolled as a University of Cincinnati undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field
  • Exposure to Javascript or Python is beneficial
  • NX CAD experience a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is preferred
  • Good communication skills and ability to provide status updates on a regular basis
  • A self-starter with strong communication skills
