Siemens Logistics LLC is looking for a talented Senior Systems Engineer with experience in design and development of singulation and sortation solutions for eCommerce or retail applications.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing and leading customer and R&D material handling automation projects, business development in the package/parcel processing and logistics market, analysis of existing customer material handling operations in order to identify opportunities for automation, being a contributing member of R&D engineering teams to design the next generation of material handling products, and direct interface with customers and internal stakeholders. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Primary ongoing responsibility is for architecting proposed solutions in response to customer’s requirements for package singulation and sortation automation and/or material handling solution projects.  


Responsibilities associated with responses to Customer’s solicitations include:

  • Completion of a solution architecture of sufficient detail to develop a Business Proposal

  • Decomposition of the system solution and the customer requirements to a level sufficient for all supporting disciplines to prepare accurate cost and labor estimates.  Typical requirements breakdown will include:

    • Complete equipment list (Bill of Materials)

    • Non Recurring Engineering needed to fulfill structural, mechanical, power distribution, electrical, controls, software, and safety system requirements

    • Non Recurring Engineering and Technical Support needed to fulfill installation, integration, commissioning, and test requirements

    • Recurring Engineering and Field Service Teams needed to fulfill Production Deployment, including Site Surveys, equipment delivery logistics, equipment staging, structural install, mechanical install, electrical install (subcontractors), controls install and checkout, commissioning, test, and Customer Acceptance Test

    • Logistics support elements requirements, such as Operations Training, Maintenance Training, Maintenance manuals and detailed mechanical, electrical, and controls drawing sets, and spare parts provisioning.

    • Identification of Risks and proposed mitigation strategies

Customer relationship management and new business development.

  • Experienced, comfortable, and confident giving presentations and leading technical discussions

  • Polished and professional communication skills (technical proposals, technical white papers, face to face meetings, phone calls, email, Skype, etc.)


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required; advanced degree preferred

  • 7+ years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Knowledge and Responsibilities, with at least five years of developing material handling system solution architectures and interfacing directly with customers

  • Must possess good technical ability, and understand highly complex technical issues

  • Travel Requirements:  Up to 20%
