Position Overview


  • Quality Engineer will execute and/or coordinate supplier qualifications, product/ process qualifications and technical supplier development projects in order to ensure the supplier base of wind towers will fulfil the regional demand, fulfilling all aspects with respect to quality, with efficient and effective production processes.

  • They will also implement and track measures and activities to ensure the requested quality of the supplied components and services are met. 

  • Manage supplier quality non-conformances by implementing immediate containment actions and in parallel ensure the execution by the supplier of a proper Root Cause Analysis and finalizing with the finding and implementation of effective corrective actions and preventive actions to avoid reoccurrences of the nonconformance. 

  • They will also participate in the decision making of the commodity strategy with respect to supplier evaluation, supplier selection and new supplier introduction.

  • This position will report to the NA regional Towers Quality Manager.




  • Perform Supplier Qualifications and Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) on wind towers according to applicable process descriptions and standards (APQP4WIND, FAI, PPAP). Ensuring the quality assurance measures are followed to completion of the PPQ.

  • Perform quality control review and evaluation of supplier data to populate KPI’s and look for trends that could affect product and process quality.

  • Respond and/or provide clarification to vendor questions. Provide vendor feedback for errors identified within transmitted data and QC of error rate statistics/KPI.

  • Ability to perform supplier audits on ISO 9001: 2015 Standards and certify as a lead auditor.  Qualify and approves suppliers, in cooperation with Global Commodity Management.  Plans and execute supplier audits.

  • Maintains and improve specific quality requirements, specification and concepts, and communicate to suppliers.

  • Establishes appropriate quality control measures of delivered goods and services according to business and product risks.

  • Participation in yearly supplier evaluation providing quality inputs as required.  

  • Support initiation and implementation of supplier quality improvement programs, quality root cause analysis and definition of appropriate counter measures at the supplier. Track implementation and effectiveness of measures. Document in applicable lessons learned tools such as the CAPA data base. (QSYS system)

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience


  • University degree or college diploma with 6-8 years’ experience in an Engineering background and Quality Assurance or a related background including customer contact being ISO Lead Auditor Certified.

  • Possess advanced customer service skills and the ability to handle a high volume and undertake complex tasks

  • Exhibit strong decision-making skills and an ability to exercise good judgment in making sound business decisions

  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Strong computer skills and advanced knowledge of Excel and SAP would be an asset.

  • Strong attention to technical and statistical details and data accuracy.

  • Demonstrate an ability to work as a team player and contribute towards team goals, demonstrate commitment and share resources

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to describe complex faults, preparation of reports, and follow up to final resolution

  • Be a strong team contributor: exhibit professionalism, respect, and understanding when supporting all SGRE personnel

  • Highly energetic, self-driven, and task-oriented

  • Will be required to participate on local/regional/national/international working groups in this area of specialty

  • Approximately 30% travel to suppliers is required.  Trips can be expected to last 1 week.
