Job Description


Siemens Logistics LLC is seeking an experienced Site Operations Manager with solid management, operations and leadership experience to lead our team at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.


POSTION SUMMARY:


This position is responsible for the O&M of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) at George Bush International Airport (IAH) in Houston.  Siemens Logistics Customer Services division offers a wide portfolio, which includes maintenance services, process optimization, training, system upgrades and modifications throughout the life cycle of a material handling system. The Site Operations Manager is the key point of contact with our Airline Partners.  This role is critical in providing, establishing and building relationships with those partners.  The Site Operations Manager is  responsible for  the overall maintenance and operations for the BHS. This position is accountable for providing site leadership, team development and direction to the maintenance team in order to achieve quality, safety,  and productivity goals, to meet KPI’s and contractual obligations.


Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities):


  • Lead and set direction for maintenance team to complete needed PM as required by scope of work.

  • Participate and take an active role in weekly, monthly and quarterly meeting with customers and customers’ agents to review performance

  • Ensure proper administration of all documentation related to maintenance work orders, PM's, parts inventory, and labor hours.

  • Improve capability and capacity of maintenance personnel.

  • Plan and manage resources to ensure the most cost effective execution of maintenance team.

  • Train, manage, and lead employee performance to insure continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to solve problems as needed and set plans for meeting Airline's goals.

  • Ensure a safe work environment for employees and certify that safe work practices are being performed.

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce site specific policies and procedures including but not limited to: Communication plans, safety plans, contingency plans, attendance, quality control of craftsmanship, inventory management, training requirements, PLC code control (per TSA's guidelines).

  • Maintain and keep all Airport BHS PLC and SERVER Licenses current and track in the operating system.

  • Assist Airport in administering the spare parts allowance and provide support with audits of spare parts inventory.

  • Promote training initiatives

  • Generate standard operating procedures.

  • Conduct BHS failures root cause assessments.

  • Conduct ongoing BHS Assessments

  • Maintain current software licenses with Airport and vendors

  • Track and administer BHS parts warranty program

  • Provide written reports of any kind when requested by customer

  • Manage Site P&L to achieve budgetary cost and margin goals


Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (Competencies):


  • Strong customer interface and professional presentation

  • Proven ability to establish and build strong customer relationship


Required Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s / Technical Degree and/or equivalent experience


  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with maintenance management and managing employees, leading, motivating, and mentoring teams

  • Experience with PLC’s software, a plus

  • Experience in industrial, commercial construction, or material handling/conveyor systems industries.

  • Experience adhering to and implementing customer contracts

  • Experience coordinating training with a team; on-boarding; appraisals; recognition; recruiting etc.

  • Experience and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel & PowerPoint

  • Proven track record of problem solving, taking on entrepreneurial challenges and simplifying the complex


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations or Engineering preferred

  • Airport and Warehouse Operations experience

  • Conveyor services or material handling services experience
