This position is to be worked on 1st shift (6:00am to 2:30pm)

Position Overview

Formulates reagents and calibrators by following production worksheets and area procedures. 

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) background check clearance is required.


This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Laboratory Technician 2, you will be responsible for: 

  • Formulating reagents and calibrators for Dimension, Vista, Stratus CS and Atellica product lines.

  • Following area procedures and manufacturing work instructions.

  • Properly documenting production steps in batch records by following Good Documentation Practices.

  • Complying with quality system and regulatory agencies: FDA, DEA, ISO, OSHA, etc...

  • Interacting with cross functional teams including Technical Operations, R&D, Planning, etc...

  • Partnering with support personnel to troubleshoot formulation processes.

  • Operating manufacturing equipment.

  • Working independently and as part of a team.

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives in the formulation area.

  • Identifying problems as they occur and suggests appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.

  • Seeking advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from others.

  • Supporting  semi-complex manufacturing related studies and processes. 

  • Gathering and recording semi-complex production information; entering data into internal computer systems. 

  • Participating in semi-complex repairing and retesting for product and/or manufacturing facilities. 

  • Helping develop estimates of requirements arising from process changes. 

  • Resolving semi-complex manufacturing or maintenance related problems affecting daily operations. 

  • Participating in troubleshooting for machine operations to determine parameters for improving efficiency in a production environment.

  • May participate in technical problem solving/trouble shooting support to a manufacturing environment.

  • Experiences may include: formulation, troubleshooting, production environment, regulatory requirements, SAP, Documentum, Mircosoft software, good documentation practices, good manufacturing practices, general laboratory practices and chemical handling. 


Required skills to have for the success of this role

  • Associates Degree or higher in Biology or Chemistry is required

  • Generally 2 - 5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above.

  • Candidate must have strong communication abilities, interpersonal skills, strong work ethics and be a team player

  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) background check clearance is required.
