Inventory Specialist

Job Description

Position Overview:

Role will report to the Material Handling Manager and support them in strategically evaluating, and as necessary redesigning, the material receipt, storage and flows in the plant with the goal to reduce overall inventory levels, support the ramp up of production volume, and improve inventory turns.



Work with the SCM and production teams to understand current material flows and employ Lean manufacturing techniques to identify and drive improvements.

  • Evaluate storage location concepts to optimize material locations to point of use

  • Support Material Handling manpower planning and strategy

  • Benchmark other industries and technology to continually improve the materials excellence road map.

  • Support Factory Master Plans by ensuring material flow is being considered at each phase

  • Work with factory operations and Lean teams to understand the Value Stream and how the strategy impacts the factory.

  • Ensure material flow, workstation setup, model mix, etc. are considered to optimize the work content for all elements.

  • Work cross functionally to eliminate waste in the supply chain including the integration of material automation with manufacturing processes.

  • Develop concepts for an optimized material staging, material flow and direct delivery processes, including warehouse structures and systems as well as technical equipment for material staging and transportation.

  • Create layout plans or optimize existing.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. 3-5 years of successful experience in a directly related field.
  • SAP experience

  • Experienced in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Lean principles to drive process improvements. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
