Financial Controller

Siemens Mobility are currently looking to add a Financial Controller our Rolling Stock Business based in our London Euston office.

You will be responsible for providing best in class financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, budgeting and sound financial governance. As well as providing proactive support to the Finance Director on all aspects of business performance.

This role includes responsibility as Commercial Head for National Training Academy for Rail (NTAR), partnering the General Manager

What are my responsibilities?

Provide support to the Finance Director, in the development and implementation of the business strategy to meet overall business goals. Develop and implement strategy for the Finance department in alignment with overall F&C strategy.

Provide consolidated financial reporting, analysis and evaluation of the performance of the business to support the decision-making process at Board, BU and Cost Centre level and identify under performance. This also includes project management of corporate initiatives to ensure compliance and to drive business performance.

Financial Accounting
Provide stewardship of the company assets on behalf of stakeholders, ensuring that information is accurate, reliable and compliant with all applicable accounting, regulatory and corporate guidelines; leading to optimal return on investment and improved business value.  Ensure all deadlines and reporting requirements are adhered to. Manage Accounting Treatment Paper in supporting Commercial organisation from bidding to project execution and agree with the relevant CFR departments and E&Y.

Risks Management

Support MD, FD and RIC Officer in identification, reporting and mitigation of internal and external risks and opportunities that could impact on financial performance


NCC Management

Financial Governance of Non Conformance Cost management process. Organising quarterly workshops, root cause analysis forums to create a culture of Non Conformance Cost management in projects.


People Management
Setting leadership standards and management best practise through clear objectives, devising and communicating a strategy that includes recruitment, performance management, and learning and development, building team dynamics to ensure that the function is a cohesive high performing unit which achieves the targets and objectives set by the Company.

National Training Academy for Rail (NTAR)
Responsible for all commercial topics for NTAR, partnering collaboratively with the General Manager. Develop the business sustainably to meet the objectives of the NTAR Collaboration Board. Attend NTAR Collaboration Board Meetings and provide leadership and financial KPI's. Develop and maintain up to date Financials and KPI reports for Collaboration Board and NTAR management team. Develop and maintain required audit information for NTAR, this includes yearly agreement of cost allocation in the Collaboration board to ensure correct potential profit sharing with NSAR / Government.

 What do I need to qualify?


  • Qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent)  or relevant experience within Siemens within a variety of businesses
  • People Management experience in similar complex business
  • SAP (Spiridon) ERP system and Esprit Reporting knowledge
  • Strong Business Controlling experience
  • Ability to handle special projects from time to time
  • Good Communication skills
  • Methodologies: Siemens Leadership Framework
  • Control environment e.g. Sarbanes Oxley
