Logistics Commodity Manager

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commodity Manager to join our team in the UK! Working alongside another Commodity Manager, the position will have responsibility for total Purchasing Volume (PVO) of assigned commodities, in excess of €35Mil (UK).

The role comprises the organisation, controlling, and measurement of procurement activities. Supporting local business units and collaborating with UK, NWE and global teams within the area of responsibility, with the objective of establishing optimum total cost solutions with an excellent supplier base. Developing digital logistics solutions.

  • Develop and implement Commodity strategies aligned to global strategic approach

  • Optimise Cost Savings (CNI, CNI+) and value add opportunities across assigned commodities

  • Implement and facilitate effective sourcing process (incl. tender & negotiations)

  • Implement Supplier Management process - key strategic suppliers to drive innovation & value

  • Develop leading digital logistics solutions and technology innovation

  • Customer and Partner Management

  • Data Management / Reporting

  • Drive collaborative network for knowledge and experience sharing

  • Potential to represent NWE

  • Develop effective communication network with Global and Regional Commodity Managers, UK Divisional Buying and key UK Divisional Stakeholders


What you need to make real what matters - Skills, Qualifications & Experience 

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Proven strategic procurement experience incorporating best-in-class procurement processes

  • Ideally degree level and working towards or achieved MCIPS qualification or equivalent

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels

  • Ability to set and work towards a specific goal, especially business goals, identifies risks and plans for contingencies to ensure delivery

  • Need to be well-organised, work well under pressure, change priorities at short notice as and when the need should arise

  • Self driven and able to work independently with a high level of autonomy

  • Proficient use of office applications including Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook
