Senior Fire Alarm Specialist - Milwaukee

Position Overview:

Siemens is looking for an experienced Fire Solutions Field Technician to support our customers for the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Territory.  This technician coordinates, programs, and performs technical product implementation for newly installed and existing Fire & Life Safety Systems (e.g. fire alarms, mass notification - including integration with building automation, security, and other building technology systems).  This opportunity would be a senior-level technician role for a candidate with comprehensive fire alarm systems product programming experience.  

Responsibilities:

    Performs routine equipment installation; commissions Fire Alarm Control panels including programming for HVAC, Elevator Recall, Smoke Purge Control, and Mass Notification. Program verification with Customers, Contractors, including Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and other approvers of facility occupancies. Using soft tools (laptops and programs) and other verification tools such as digital voltmeters to verify operation of completed fire alarm panels and systems distribution apparatus such as power supplies, switches, relays and accessories. Able to troubleshoot AC/DC voltages including ground faults, resistance, and other techniques.

    Assists with the routine performance of System Preparation & Design Coordination: provides assistance to the engineering group to create and/or verify point database; supports the creation of job specific programming via computer for various systems (controls, electronic security systems (ESS), fire systems, mass notification); supports the creation of and the upload of point database, assists with the creation of graphics in the Central Processing Unit (CPU) for the user interface.

    Verifies software and all points in the database; creates/reviews job -programming via computer for various systems.

    Creates and uploads point database.

    Backs up data from panels and data servers.

    Troubleshoots and resolves inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of operations.

    Contacts Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for technical support when needed; drives issues to resolution.

    Sets up and configures PC workstations and user-interfaces.

    Works with customers on their integrated networks to resolve communications problems.

    Managers Operational Testing, Verification, and Acceptance/ Final Testing with AHJ.

    Runs reports to analyze system operation.

    Works with customer to demonstrate system operation and verify consistency with the contracted scope of work (e.g. Commissioning Agents or test-and-balance contractors).

    Trains customers on system operations.

    Completes and submits written reports to database and customers per code requirements.

    Provides Plans and Control System Documents to engineering for as-built drawings.



 

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

 

    Required education: High school diploma, state-recognized GED, or state recognized high school proficiency exam.

    Required travel: 90%

    Required experience: Engineering/service experience working with Fire & Life Safety Systems—including knowledge of integration, networks, electrical concepts, and building operations, as well as the programming, job start-up and checkout, and troubleshooting of related systems.

    Other requirements:

      Excellent communication skills in English.

      Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other service related tools.

      Ability to work in the U.S. without a need for current or future sponsorship.

      Must be at least 21 years old to participate in required Siemens vehicle plan.

      Must have a valid driver's license in good standing.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education:

    Preferred education: Associates degree.

    NICET II or above is preferred.

    Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this position coordinates, manages, implements and/or performs service for new equipment installation, equipment, or system repairs.
