Product Manager - Field Devices

Job Description

We at Siemens Smart-Infrastructure are searching for a Product Manager – Field Devices to join our team, based either in Frimley or home based. Key to this role will involve taking the lead in technology projects that will transform entire industries, cities and even countries.

By using the portfolio of products provided by our HQ you'll responsible for introducing these products into the market and driving the solutions offered by Building Products (BP) sales.

Part of the role will involve managing and defining BP, solutions and services and drive their business performance across the whole product life cycle. You will also lead the introduction, maintenance and phase out of the products working closely with sales, logistics, technical, engineering and headquarters.

In addition, you will support and advise sales in developing solutions based on customer requirements. This support will be customer facing and will include customer demonstrations and presentations.

Other responsibilities will involve

  • Becoming the portfolio owner and go-to person for BP products

  • Managing the products, solutions and/or services assigned with full responsibility for the results, including definition of customer and market requirements, growth & profit strategies, business planning, road map and using the Siemens Smart-Infrastructure BP UK PLM process

  • Constantly observing relevant competitors' offerings

  • Defining product marketing strategies (product/solution/service, price, placement, promotion)

  • Pursuing product problems with HQ/supplier carrying out investigations as necessary, and maintaining the necessary product history

  • Keeping records of a technical or commercial failure of a product and locally solve weakness where possible and record/report via support request process to HQ

  • Testing new products in the office and on test sites in conjunction with HQ/supplier

  • Checking products and product lines for local regulations and approvals

  • Providing product packaging to improve ease of use, product selection, engineering and installation to consequentially improve profit and sales for Siemens

  • Keeping UK Intranet and UK Internet up to date with meaningful material

  • Supporting sales team with product, application and design knowledge, material and presentations to promote profitable sales of Siemens products and systems

  • Alongside sales and marketing, you support with producing and supporting marketing material and initiatives

  • Supporting the sales team in argumentation and define competitive advantages of the product range

What you need to make real what matters. 

  • As the Product Manager you will ideally have worked in a similar role within an industrial or mechanical environment or have come from HVAC, heating controls and products background. Product management experience of devices (e.g. control valves and sensors) would be great!

  • Be commercially aware and strive to build a consistent product offering where Siemens can make a profit over the whole product life cycle.

  • Have an expert understanding of the UK market, legislation and competition so that they are able to provide the necessary packaging, support and advice to improve sales of Siemens products and solutions.

  • Ability to support complex sales solutions / deals.

  • Experience of rolling out new products and technology across the UK and Ireland.

  • The ability to identify and close gaps with design, delivery and engineering teams.

Travel & Location

This role is based in Frimley, but there is flexibility with home base location. You’ll also get to visit other locations around the UK, so you’ll need to go where this journey takes you. In return, you’ll get the chance to work with teams impacting entire cities, countries – and the shape of things to come.
