Job Description

Position Objective:

Field Service Engineer are responsible for providing technical assistance to clients during the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment (i.e. centrifugal compressor, steam turbine), maintenance and overhaul of mechanical equipment. The Field Service Engineer troubleshoots mechanical problems encountered in the field environment, with engineering support from SIEMENS Technical Support Group and corresponding factory. This position requires strong communication and client-facing skills. This position requires 70-80% travel to domestic and/or international job sites.

    Equipment / Software Knowledge:

    Basic computer skills are required, as is the ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Computer knowledge and familiarity with the Internet are important tools and a laptop computer is provided.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Math skills through geometry, and preferably trigonometry, are required for this job (ability to do alignments and calculate tolerances).



    At least three (3) years in dealing with installation, commissioning and maintenance of (Main) Rotating Equipment / or thorough technical hands on expertise. Apart from the education degree required, the Field Service Engineer should have had adequate safety training at supervisory level. Be familiar with the different customs at refinery, petro-chemical sites, and offshore production facilities. Have thorough knowledge about rotating equipment machinery.


    Fluent English writing/speaking

    Unique or Special Requirements:
    Travel required  70 -80 % in general.

    Finish other tasks assigned by manager.Adhere to all the requirements of the Employee Code of Ethics.Support and participate in Dresser-Rand quality programs.Actively recommend customer’s purchase of desirable spare parts.Report on competitive equipment and customers’ compressor needs. Be aware of potential opportunities to offer SIEMENS products and services and be able to discuss these with clientsAccurately record and report any problems encountered in the field to permit the factory to investigate and institute corrective action and to aid the factory in the equitable settlement of warranty claims.Instruct and train customers’ operators and/or maintenance personnel when requested or directed.Arrange professional travel to job sites through SIEMENS’ travel group per instructions received from the Field Service Manager or Field Service Coordinator.Maintain and submit in a timely manner accurate expense reports and time sheets.Complete the specified installation, commissioning and startup documentation prior to leaving each job-site.Write clear, concise daily reports to keep factory and field personnel accurately apprised of job progress and to protect the company from liability for problems resulting from customer deviations from SIEMENS standards.Ability to read mechanical prints and drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (PID’s), and blue prints.Provide technical assistance on installation, startup, servicing, overhauls, and troubleshooting of SIEMENS made equipment (i.e. centrifugal compressor, steam turbine) throughout China.
