Job Title: Scientist 2 (Assay Development)
Job Location: Berkeley, CA
The successful candidate for this Scientist 2 position working within SHL R&D will report to a Sr. Scientist or higher in the department.
This scientist will be responsible for optimization and performance verification of new assays or technologies, and documentation and transfer of assays to either the clinical laboratory for validation as a Laboratory Developed Tests (LDT) or to other units of Siemens Diagnostics for development as In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) kits.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
This position is for a non-entry level scientist with diagnostics industry and/or clinical laboratory experience.
Key skills include a background in assay development, with a particular emphasis on molecular assays and/or immunoassays, control system design and implementation, and documentation experience in a regulated healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will also have clear and understandable written and verbal technical communication.
B.S. or advanced degree in molecular biology, chemistry, or related discipline is required.
2 to 5 years experience is also required. An advanced degree with post-doctoral work may substitute for a portion of required working experience in the IVD or clinical laboratory industry.
Approximately 10% travel may be required.
