Siemens Smart Infrastructure is the one-stop supplier for sophisticated energy management technology across the entire energy conversion chain – from power transmission right through to the customer – and makes it possible to adapt smart power grids to future demands, through modernization and capability enhancement. Our technology simplifies the data management, business process execution and control of power grids and ensures an economic, reliable, intelligent, highly available and efficient grid operations. 

One of the business units in the Siemens Smart Infrastructure Operating Company is Digital Grid, which brings to market solutions that over time, are scalable and compliant with industry standards for interoperability and security.  Siemens is making Digital Grid a reality by partnering with utilities and cities to implement their Digital Grid visions. The Software Application Specialist will be responsible to work independently as well as within a project team to convert customer business requirements into Siemens Solution configuration parameters. This is a customer facing role that includes ongoing interactions between Siemens software business units and Siemens clients while solving any technical matters arising during the client’s implementation process.

This position is a customer facing role requiring technical experience in utility smart grid software systems and bilingual technical interaction (French & English).  The Software Application Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of Siemens EnergyIP Meter Data Management (MDM) software. The Software Application Specialist will have to work at a minimum 50% of the time on customer premise. This role will report to the Head of Digital Grid Software for Siemens Canada Limited. 

  • Work in close collaboration with Siemens utilities customers in Montreal, Quebec to convert their business requirements into Siemens solution configuration parameters  
  • Install, configure, test and support Siemens software applications in both a customer on-premise and Siemens cloud environment  
  • Provide work estimates and regular status updates to be used in project planning & tracking
  • Assist in designing workflows, new processes, data flows and integrations with existing systems and business practices
  • Create and deliver end user training
  • Create, execute and support customer acceptance test plans for Siemens Smart Grid Application solutions
  • Provide technical assistance with the creation of operational processes
  • Identify log track and assist in the resolution of software and process issues
  • Provide the first and second tier of support for technical questions on software functionality from end-users, internal and external customers
  • Implement and deliver projects with minimal supervision
  • Execute operational systems maintenance tasks to ensure optimal continued systems performance
What will you need to succeed?

  • Technical diploma (DEC) or University degree (BAC) in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of customer facing software implementation experience and deployment of Enterprise Software Applications
  • Experience with Linux, Apache and Oracle are a must
  • Experience in the Electric, smart metering and Utility industry, an asset
  • Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups
  • Strong background in a customer-focused environment 
  • Very good knowledge of French and English, both written and spoken
