Rail Electrification - Technical Manager

Position Overview

The Rail Electrification Technical Manager is the key technical systems engineering authority on all assigned projects and will be responsible for ensuring that the project engineering team is positioned to deliver all engineering designs timely and on-budget while maximizing the opportunity to identify additional work opportunities. In this role, you will have the overall accountability for leading the development of fully compliant Engineering project deliverables end to end that meet the requirements of the contract and provide technical leadership that covers cross discipline work streams to provide a coordinated solution for our customers! Project Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Lead and capture all technical design conferences
  • Actively manage all project Engineering Quality Gates and Milestones in EPiQ in accordance with Engineering guidelines
  • Act as a Requirements Lead and / or Contributor in the Requirements Management (RM) process
  • Ensure that any sub-contracted Engineering design work is awarded and handled in a professional, efficient manner
  • Management of technical interfaces
  • Conduct and capture monthly project progress meetings and evaluations with the Engineering project team
  • Provide technical support to all Project Manager(s) and Commercial Manager(s) and ensure all Engineering design change requests are processed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a project submittal, RFI, RFD & technical risk registers
  • Produce and issue project progress and critical metric reports
  • Develop synergy between projects to offer services to customers that are both innovative and value for money
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT, Factory Integration Testing (FIT) and Field / Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as required
  • Willingness to travel across the USA ~5% as needed for projects
  • Undertake lessons learned exercises to maintain value

Knowledge & Experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) qualified in any US state (preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working within the Rail Electrification or other power related market
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience of AC and / or DC rail electrification schemes, particularly distribution assets
  • Proficient in discipline specific ANSI / IEEE and NEMA standards
  • Validated safety management knowledge
  • Strong organizational, collaborative and leadership experience and capability
  • Strong business and financial understanding and good appreciation of contractual, commercial issues associated with design business
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with the Siemens Rail Electrification products is an advantage
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience crafting control circuitry for similar products than those listed above is an advantage
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience managing technical requirements through the verification and validation (V&V) process either as a requirements lead or contributor
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (minimum) - Master of Science (MSc) degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (preferred)

  • Follow emergency procedures and report all safety and environmental incidents and accidents
