Field Service Technician

Job Description

Position Overview 

This position will report to the Field Service Manager in charge of Motion Control Machine Tool Field Service. Equipment knowledge to include the majority of the following; Sinumerik, Simodrive, Simatic PLC’s, various communications protocols and Siemens HMI systems.

Responsibilities 

•Performs complex trouble shooting, problem analysis and product specific service
•Performs complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and completes documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures.
•Knowledge of 5-axis machining technology preferred. Specific Siemens product experience in SINUMERIK and SIMODRIVE, especially 840D and 611D
•Knowledge of Siemens product experience in SINUMERIK and SIMODRIVE, including non-current products such as System 3, 810 classic, 6RB2101, 6RA27 .

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

10+ years of technical hands on experience specific to electrical measurement equipment
•Working proficiency with electrical measurement equipment including; multimeters, meggers, oscilloscopes, and various specialized equipment for communication and network systems. 

Adept at field service, troubleshooting and commissioning activities for Siemens Sinumerik CNC’s in manufacturing facilities.
•Proven troubleshooting techniques and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
•Candidate should be able to read and understand electrical plans, specifications, drawings, and installation schematics.

•Travel required with the position 95%

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

•Candidate should be able to understand program structure in ladder logic, function block, Sequential Function charts, and statement list.
•Candidate should be familiar with electrical safety PPE and procedures (LOTO, NFPA70E and OSHA regulations.)
•Equipment knowledge in the following; Milling, Turning, Grinding, industrial controls, various communication interfaces, serial, parallel, ethernet.
•PC construction hardware and software, including general maintenance
