As a Catheter Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for working within our Catheter Development team on the development of cardiovascular benchtop test systems and performance characterization of ultrasound imaging catheters. The intern will benefit by working in a dynamic and cross-functional environment on development of state-of-the-art medical ultrasound technology. All work will be guided, supported, and reviewed by senior engineers to help the individual develop skills for the healthcare/ultrasound industry.

The intern will build on their academic knowledge and skills, including but not limited:

  • Mechanical design, prototyping, and assembly
  • Test design, execution, data analysis, and reporting
  • Presentation skills
  • Laboratory equipment operation and safety
  • Human anatomy

Job responsibilities include:

  • Development of cardiovascular benchtop models (e.g., anatomically accurate structures, multi-material, pulsatile flow, valve operation)
  • Performance characterization (e.g., mechanical, imaging) of intracardiac echocardiography catheters
  • Data analysis, documentation/reporting, and presentation (e.g., Microsoft Office products)

Required skills to have for the success of this role

  • A junior or senior currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s student
  • Majors: Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent engineering or science degree
  • Able to intern with team for 1 year; full time (40 hours) during the summer, part-time (up to 20 hours) during academic year
  • Lab experience preferred
