The quality and costs for produced products are important for the competitiveness of manufacturing industry. Due to this fact, an early precise estimation of the final production costs at the product design stage would be beneficial. Additionally, costs can be reduced by intelligent combination of part tolerances under consideration of overall product requirements.

  • Aim of the thesis is the development of (self)learning models for estimation of costs and tolerances in reference to the corresponding manufacturing technology

  • Therefore, you prepare a concept for application of innovative models representing costs and tolerances

  • You will implement the concept directly at the interface to the CAD/CAM software and validate the results at real use cases

  • As a result, the product design should be optimized according to costs and acceptable overall tolerances

What you need to make real what matters.

  • You are currently studying informatics, engineering informatics, automation, industrial informatics or information systems

  • You have good programming skills and interest in manufacturing related topics

  • Ideally, you already gained initial experience in the field of CAD/CAM and machine learning methods and would like to share your knowledge with us

  • Very good written and oral English skills are required, German skills would be an asset
