You will be responsible for coordinating and tracking all software projects in Mentor’s VSD division. They will be required to meet regularly with software engineering managers in all geographies. Most meetings will be by phone but there will be periodic travel required to each of our development sites, no less than once per year per site. The software program manager will coordinate the planning process for each twice-yearly major release. Some programs may span multiple major releases and thus require special tracking considerations. Once the development cycle for a given major release begins, the program manager will keep track of progress and call attention to anomalies and risks. The program manager will integrate late-arriving requests and helps development managers make the necessary trade-offs. The program manager will ensure
that development managers are regularly paying attention to quality goals and support requests. At the end of the development cycle the program manager will ensure the release contents are published and well understood by internal customers. As an ongoing task, the software program manager will monitor the health of the software development lifecycle and suggest continual improvements to the team.
- Degree in hardware or software engineering. 5+ years of development experience and 5+
years of program management experience.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle and the release management
process is a must.
- Familiarity with various tools of the trade, including scripting utilities like Python and Perl, OS utilities like make, compilers like gcc, and various management and tracking utilities like GANTT charts, MS Project, etc.
