Head of Product and Customer Service Business

As well as rail transport, we also offer solutions in airport logistics postal automation and intelligent transport technologies.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of the Product and Customer Service (CS) business to join our Mobility team in Melbourne, VIC. This role will be 50/50 based out of our 2 offices of Port Melbourne and Docklands and there will be also some travelling associated to this role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for 2 main areas:

1)    Head of the Product Business

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the implementation of Sales guidelines and set the sales targets for the assigned sales organization.
  • Develop and propose sales budgets and growth forecasts, aligned with the sales strategy of the department.
  • Align customer interactions and strategies with the Regional Heads and the Head of Customer Service
  • Manage completion of budgets and regular sales reporting.
  • Define and allocate resources for the full production value chain, including sales, marketing, engineering, procurement and production
  • Ensure Marketing, Product Management and Project Management in matters of strategic and tactical product and service positioning.
  • Initiate and drive planning of customer related product development measures or the setup of customer related projects.
  • Initiate strategic key customers' business development activities, looking to promote new products into the market
  • Drive operational efficiencies and cost saving measures into the production of local value add products
  • Facilitate the introduction of new products into the market
  • Identify product gaps and introduce new products with a moving 3 year look ahead (including make or buy decisions)
  • Establish strong relationships with 3rd party suppliers
  •  Maintain relevant senior management relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Match staff skills to workload and business strategy

Responsible for Mobility’s Products and Operations with a key focus on railway signalling and systems:

  •  Ensure Marketing, Product Management and Project Management in matters of strategic and tactical product and service positioning

 Main Activities

  • Head of the Customer Service Business

Manages and leads the Customer Service business to deliver on the set strategic objectives including

appropriate resourcing the operations to deliver efficiently the pipeline of works within OH&S guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the overall regional Mobility strategy in terms of local developments, investments and pipeline visibility
  •  Ensures alignment of and adherence to practices and activities with local legislation and global guidelines and processes, including Siemens guidelines and processes
  • Establishes a pipeline of future works and supports these opportunities through the bidding/tendering phases
  • Improves chances of winning tendered work by advocating Siemens technology and solutions to the market
  • Collaborates with the other functional departments for the overall success of Siemens. 
  • Continually seeks opportunities to improve and deliver more efficient outcomes
  • Consults with customers and support commercial negotiations on Bids & Projects
  • Define and allocate resources to deliver on obligations and responsibilities in: Service Delivery, management of test rigs, digitalisation, service delivery, support, communications & Cyber Security

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will ideally have an understanding of Railway Signalling products and systems.


  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • A tertiary engineering qualification preferably electrical or Systems Engineering qualification
  •  Strong track record in managing a team, business development, with customer service
  • Mindset and project management delivery capabilities accompanied by an entrepreneurial
  • Mindset with an energetic can-do attitude.
