Scope of Position

The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing transaction processing, accounting and financial reporting functions for the following areas:

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Intercompany Clearing
  • Goods Receipt / Invoice Receipt Maintenance (GR/IR)
  • Treasury / Cash
  • Pension Accounting
  • Fixed Assets
  • Transactional Taxes

This position is also the assigned Head of Accounting for Treasury company 512W

Duties and Responsibilities

Direct management responsibility for staff of nine accountants whose daily activities include the above areas.

Provide accounting guidance to Siemens Shared Services organizations in Orlando and India with respect to above areas.

Support integration of new entities into Siemens Healthineers in compliance with Siemens Accounting standards and standard processing with respect to the above areas.

Implement and maintain internal control system to ensure company assets are safeguarded and that financial postings and reporting are prepared in compliance with all financial policies and reporting requirements.

Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits of the above areas, taking responsibility for implementation of agreed upon recommendations resulting from audit findings.

Ensure AR Valuation Allowances are calculated and posted in accordance with current Siemens guidelines

Advise GR/IR subject matter experts on the accounting impact of open GR/IR.

Act as business partner to SMS and SHDI businesses, HC Accounting, outside consultants and GBS/FTS Tax group for matters concerning sales and use tax, personal property tax, medical device excise tax, business licenses, special tariffs and Puerto Rico taxes.  This includes items such as:

  • Tax table maintenance – Vertex and MDET
  • Compliance / audit issues, including assistance to outside tax consultants and attorneys on audit matters
  • Assessments & Appeals, including direct participation in some state appeals
  • Overseeing status of tax refund filings
  • Tax accounting for above areas including development and posting of accruals, write offs, reserves and tax refund receivables
  • Preparation of all required Puerto Rico tax returns by local PR accounting firm.

Supervise completion of Federal and State income tax reporting packages with respect to fixed asset depreciation and development schedules in order to meet filing requirement deadlines.

Develop, maintain and improve ICC AP robotic process automation with Blue Prism and in-house consultants and developers.

Manage ICC monetary collections / settlements and postings through Finavigate and SAP.

Development of financial analyses and metrics from which to monitor productivity and efficiency levels as well improvement actions.

Management of Treasury activities utilizing Finavigate online treasury system, including:

  • Importing and posting of loan statements for approximately 50 bank accounts in 20 currencies in SAP P40 and P41.
  • Processing of Finavigate Payment Authorization (approval) for all ICC funds flow to and from loan accounts.
  • Processing of Finavigate Finpay for all cash transfers including approval of misdirected cash transfers to proper affiliates and cash settlement to 3rd parties for business acquisition transactions.

Required Competencies

Flexibility of mind to multitask many distinct issues within a short time frame while maintaining focus and prioritizing workload.

Ability to successfully manage lower and mid-level accountants in order to maintain staff productivity and morale.  Requires high levels of patience, stress tolerance and coaching ability.

Ability to work with and guide multi-functional teams across various segments of the business to achieve desired result (e.g. GBS Orlando, India, IT team, external consultants, auditors and attorneys).  Requires strong communication, project management and negotiation skills combined with job experience.

Customer Focus with an orientation to serve.

Prior Education / Experience

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Accounting with CPA preferred
  • Eight to ten years combined Public Accounting and Private industry experience, preferably within a large multinational business.
  • Prior experience managing and developing teams
  • Experience working collaboratively across departmental functions
  • Experience in financial data analysis
