The Overhead Medium Voltage Systems (OMVS) business of Siemens develop world first technology and products including intelligent and connected overhead switching devices. These devices have on board microcontrollers with real time operating systems, wireless connectivity using multiple protocols and a suite of PC application tools for configuration and data management.
Our business operates as a fully integrated start-up with the R&D, manufacturing, technical support and global business development functions all located within our Yatala, QLD facility. The OMVS business is highly successful and has been growing rapidly exporting our products to over 35 countries.
We have an exciting opportunity available for a talented, experienced and motivated Firmware Developer. There are three main elements of the role:
- Execute firmware projects to enhance quality, resolve bugs and implement new features for our Fusesaver, Compact Recloser and Remote Control Unit product portfolios.
- Support the technical sales support team with the investigation of firmware bug reports and the scoping of new firmware features to meet customer requirements.
- Develop, implement and monitor improved firmware development methods across the business

We want someone who can bring knowledge, experience and ideas beyond what we already possess. This role will be challenging and rewarding being a key part of a highly competent team in a rapidly growing business competing on the world stage.
The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Software or electronics). You will have at least 10 years industry experience developing embedded firmware using the C programming language. Experience with SCADA protocols including DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-104 using Triangle Microworks libraries is highly desirable. Experience implementing cyber security into embedded devices would also be well regarded as is knowledge of electronic design and fault finding.
