Siemens Process & Safety Consulting business segment is a leading global consultancy focused on providing consulting, engineering and software solutions for the process industries. We specialize in design and verification of the relief and flare systems, risk assessments, risk-based inspection program development and implementation, inspection data management and analysis, process safety information verification and management, PSM assessments, Management of Change and conceptual and early front-end design. To support the global business the business segment is looking for an Engineering Project Manager who will apply his/her expertise to in the area of process safety, operations, design and analysis, to deliver quality projects to Siemens customers. These projects focus on process safety management with emphasis in the area of pressure relief systems and mechanical integrity.
In this role, the Engineering Project Manager is responsible for execution of projects with dual responsibility of project management and leading the technical work. He/she will be primarily responsible for managing projects with focus on meeting project commitments, including timely communications with project sponsors and stakeholders. Project Manager will not have direct reports; however, it is expected of him/her to drive success in project execution through effective collaboration and strong project management skills.
The Engineering Project Manager will also support projects in the bid or sales phase providing input to proposal scopes, budgets, and execution strategy from a technical aspect.
§ Plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages overall project assurance for multiple projects in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems and requirements of the company.
§ Manage overall project scope, schedules, budgets, and goals, delivering projects safely.
§ Identify project resource requirements and provide effective management and supervision of personnel assigned to the projects either internal or subcontractors
§ Responsible for managing all project interfaces and communications with project stakeholders including clients, subcontractors and internal Siemens functions
§ Ensure that project status, issues and successes are communicated to project team, stakeholders, sponsors, steering committee and all levels of management and documented appropriately.
§ Identifies and manages risks and opportunities through all phases of a project.
§ Responsible for day to day contact and communication with multiple clients and focuses on providing client satisfaction.
§ Ensure goals are met with regards to customer satisfaction, quality and team performance.
§ Interact regularly with existing to determine their needs and to develop plans for improving delivery. Advocate on behalf of clients and represent clients' needs as appropriate to management. Work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.
§ Provide technical coordination on projects (both internal and with the customer) and provide technical guidance of the project team.
§ Develop understanding of and gain experience in various services within the portfolio
§ Support sales activities and proposals for opportunities to help define scope, budgets and schedules.
§ Support development and implementation of work methods, processes and procedures to support continuous improvement of project execution procedures (technical and/or project management).
§ Interface with engineering, sales, finance and management as needed.
How can I qualify for the role?
§ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, preferred).
§ 8-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in the area of process safety management, plant operations, engineering management or implementation of technical solutions at customer operating assets.
§ Minimum 3 years project management experience on engineering, consulting or leading and training technical staff on projects
§ Certification as a Project Management Professional is highly desired. PMI certified or eligible to get certification required.
§ Technical Experience in execution of Process Safety, engineering design projects required.
§ Self-starter that can work independently or deployed in a multidisciplinary team.
§ Excellent communication skills with proven experience to communicate effectively with management, external parties including customers and subcontractors, at various levels of the organization.
§ Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the area of Process Safety Management (PSM as defined in OSHA CFR 1910.119) with direct experience as engineering lead executing projects.
§ Experience in planning, executing and checking technical work in multiple services – specifically in areas of pressure relief management, flare system analysis and design, mechanical integrity and risk-based inspection, within the Oil and Gas industry in the Refining, Petrochemical or upstream oil and gas segments.
§ Knowledge and experience with international codes and standards in the above technical areas would be a plus.
§ Work through others to achieve results while mentoring and developing staff competence.
§ Identify and implement effective courses of action to complete work and ensure achievement of business goals.
§ Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
· Manage projects and processes effectively. Knowledge in Siemens processes & tools and being certified PM per PM@Siemens would be added advantage.
§ Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed for projects. Travel could be up to 25% at times.
