Job Description

Within Siemens Digital Industries Software, Simulation and Test Solutions (STS) has an open position for a summer intern within the Documentation team for Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and related products.

Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is used by thousands of engineers around the world in multiple industries to simulate aerodynamics, heat transfer, reacting flows, particle dynamics, and solid stress. The Documentation team is responsible for producing end-user documentation, tutorials, and other technical information for Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and other products. The team is distributed across several offices in Europe and the US, including the Hammersmith office in London. This position is for the Hammersmith office.

Joining as a summer intern provides you with an excellent opportunity to experience technical writing at a high level given the breadth of physics that Simcenter STAR-CCM+ can model.

As a summer intern, you will contribute to the goals of the team in helping our customers achieve success. Specifically, you can expect to:

  • Learn to perform a numerical flow analysis using Simcenter STAR-CCM+ including solid modelling, mesh generation, and problem description
  • Learn to use XML content development tools (oXygen and SDL Tridion Docs)
  • Interact with members of the documentation team and other teams within STS
  • Update and extend existing technical tutorials
  • Develop new material for tutorials and workflows

As an applicant for this position, you must:

  • Be able to demonstrate that you can explain things well in written English. Writing samples are requested before interview
  • Be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics
  • Be willing to tackle new challenges independently and as part of a team
