Director of Manufacturing Operations - Rail Infrastructure

Job Description

The Director of Operations is a vital leadership role responsible for the strategic planning, ongoing development, and improvement of Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure's multiple manufacturing facilities. A key part of the role is setting and deciding Manufacturing strategy, policies and guidelines, in accordance to the overall targets, and heading all manufacturing operations for the Business Unit. You will be serving as coach and mentor to employees under your direct and indirect supervision, providing training for meaningful topics such as risk mitigation, safety protocols, usage of new equipment, and industry standard methodologies. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensures long-term planning of production resources, derives the respective business and investment plans for all sites. 

- Takes final decision on Manufacturing related budgets, and decides budget and resource allocation. 

- Coordinates and manages all mission critical Manufacturing programs and initiates and oversees continuous development of Manufacturing infrastructure. 

- Ensures effective production technologies and logistics processes in the plants assigned. 

- Collaborates with engineering, quality control, and production in order to ensure the smooth execution of projects 

- Advises Executive management in all production related matters. 

- Heads overall organization assigned, and leads all related Management, Professionals and staff. 

- Drive improvements in quality, cost reductions and time to market 

- Initiate, drive and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activity 

- Oversight of safety and performance objectives 

- Oversees manufacturing to ensure product quality and efficient resource utilization and timely delivery 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Advanced degree in MFG is a plus (M.S. or PhD.) 

- Minimum of 10+ years as a Manufacturing Manager/Director 

- Excellence in performing: Data Analysis, Risk Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Method Application, Process Validations, Capacity Planning, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) 

- Experience using manufacturing technologies, factory automation technology, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems 

- Excellent process development capabilities 

- Proficiency interpreting documentation such as drawings, schematics, engineering and inspection requirements, and BOMs 

- Business insight & financial literacy: knowing how strategies and decisions impact financial, operational, and sales results 

- Decision-making in fast paced situations
