Overview:
 
Siemens is seeking an Operations Manager for our growing Security Services business in the Los Angeles area.  This function manages staff and P & L, and has ownership of both strategy and vision for the security services operations team.
 
 Responsibilities:
 
  • Supervises the activities and performance of all project management, design engineering, system installation, and commissioning employees for installed work. Provides technical support, expertise, leadership, and accountability for installed projects and technical support programs.
 
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls all installation and engineering activities for assigned projects to assure profitable growth.  Advises management on local operations planning including resource hiring, development, and allocation; financial forecasting and monitoring; and issue resolution planning.
 
  • Supervises the team to ensure schedules are maintained and projects proceed according to plans, job specifications, and cost estimates.  Supervises engineering activities including submittal preparation, material ordering, shipping, labor plans, job site walks, job folder updates, and re-estimates. Plans and justifies staffing requirements, tools, and other appropriate investments for effective and timely execution of assigned work. Provides monthly project estimates and assists in monthly forecasting. Ensures proper job management and cost control by reviewing project financial statements with engineers.
 
  • Maintains and improves planned and booked margins for projects. Directs and supervises the development of project plans and the use of those plans in the monitoring and control of progress throughout projects.. Reviews customer feedback and ensures retention of customers and growth goals.
 
  • Develops labor schedules and loading to ensure project compliance.  Maintains timely communications and harmonious relationships between engineering, operations, and sales so  that project details, changes, and plan discrepancies can be coordinated to  minimize cost and delay throughout the estimating, bidding, and operations phases of each project.
 
  • Builds and maintains an effective operations organization committed to customer and employee satisfaction and profitable growth. Manages or advises on hiring, development, allocation, and performance assessment of personnel within area of responsibility. Provides the tools, training, and environment required to achieve employee success.   
 
  • Ensures the proper implementation of all company policies, procedures, and productivity tools.  Maintains current knowledge of regulatory laws and industry requirements to ensure compliance.    Advises and implements industry/field best practices to improve products, applications, and services.
 
  • Represents Siemens in industry associations, professional organizations, and affiliations to develop relationships with customers, contractors, and community leaders
 
 Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
 
  • Required education: High School Diploma, state-recognized GED, or state-recognized high school proficiency exam. Bachelor degree or equivalent in Business/Management or a technical field preferred 
  • Required experience: Eight years of building technologies security industry experience.
  • Required travel: 10%
  • Other requirements:
    • Must be organized and have excellent written and verbal skills in English.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
    • Ability to work in the U.S. without a need for current or future sponsorship.
    • Must be at least 21 years old to participate in required Siemens vehicle plan.
    • Must have a valid driver's license in good standing.
 
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
 
  • Preferred education: Bachelor’s degree in business/management or a technical field relevant to the type of engineering services provided by Siemens Building Technologies.
  • Preferred experience: Team management experience.
