Job Description:

Position Overview
Performs the completion of projects within the Motor Assembly department, Test department, Traction department and Paint department. Completes complex product manufacturing to ensure that cost effectiveness, manufacturability, quality, and safety requirements are attainable in the production process. Ensures accuracy and availability of complex procedures to support product modifications and assembly. Meets or improves on planned product/system cost standards and expense budgets.
•Supervise approximately 15-20 hourly manufacturing personnel.
•Ensure all safety requirements for both OSHA and site specific are adhered to.
•Coordinate with both upstream and downstream manufacturing supervisors and production control to meet production requirements.
•Conduct weekly safety audits and bimonthly safety talks with departments.
•Assign organization and housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment using standard 6S procedures.
•Successfully defines work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.
•Impact of decisions on business operations can have a moderate to high level of impact.
•May develop departmental budgets and business plans for functional area.
•May evaluate and recommend changes in methods or procedures in own area of responsibility.
Identifies resource needs and may develop justification.
•Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
•May be responsible for overall success of function or project.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Demonstrates and applies broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for managed work group(s) and how it supports related operations. Demonstrates understanding and application of supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action. Typically 3-5 years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Understand tolerances, both Metric and Standard measurement systems.
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints.
BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Has working knowledge of 3 phase electric motors and/or generators.
  • Has working knowledge of paint and detailing of motors and/or generators
  • Has working knowledge of traction department motors and/or gears
  • Has working knowledge of motor test facilities
  • Understanding of Lean principles and practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of Total Productive Maintenance systems.
