Job Description:

Primary Function
 
Deliver a complete programming package to the Project Manager.  The package includes the Sequence of Operation, Logic and Functions and pre-tested programming for all projects
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Set up process to write all programs including sequence of operation with logic and functions after submittal is approved.
  • Create functional test and flowcharting documents as required.
  • Produce a functional block diagram to properly activate each output as specified. Assign an address to every input and output.
  • Use National standards as the basis for programming standards.
  • Set Zone required Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) standards and coordinate standards with other Programmers.
  • Assist Graphics Designer to incorporate device location and activation information for all graphics design.
  • Validate customer accepted program by comparing original provided program to final. Evaluate differences and work with Specialists to improve site programming skills and minimize central programming rework.
  • Track programming time to establish baseline for future estimating standards.
  • Review design content to provide Specialists with the needed information to optimize Start-up and Commissioning.
  • Document with RFI’s specification discrepancies and needed clarification and cost impact requested changes.
  • Produce RFIs and resolve issues with job submittals prior to the job submittals being released to the Commissioning Specialist.
  • Be an active and leading member of the “Programming Community”.
  • Contribute and participate in regular conference calls to establish programming standards.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Design and Programming meetings.
  • Provide onsite assistance with functional testing as required
  • Verify that standards and quality are maintained across the Zone.
  • All programs must be tested prior to release to the job and all solutions must be 100% error free.
  • May provide expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and entry level employees.
  • Represents the organization as a prime internal contact and possibly a key external contact.
  • Provides pre-sale assistance for labor estimating
 
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Associates degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training preferred.
  • 3+ years of successful experience programming fire system strategies.
  • Specialized skill training/certification may be required. A minimum NICET II certification in Fire Alarm Systems is required.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills
