Position Overview

 

 

The Electrical Engineering Department is responsible for Light Rail and Heavy Rail engineering and interfacing with the centers of competence in Europe. Electrical Engineering is neighboring with the Mechanical Engineering department and both are reporting to the Head of Engineering.This Electrical Integration Manager will lead a team of electrical architects, electrical designers, harness designers and production support engineers. The managed department is responsible for electrical designs on heavy and light rail vehicles. Understanding all rail systems, customer requirements and outputting this information into a collection of technical documents such as schematics, harness drawings, written design documents and BOMs, will enable the manufacturing teams the relevant technical information to build those designs.

The Electrical Integration manager will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical design of multiple project(s) from requirements to manufacturing.
  • Project lead responsibilities of electrical designers and harness designers while providing electrical guidance for system engineers and mechanical designers. 
  • Assist with the development of engineering drawings, schedules, procedures, and projects as assigned.
  • Interface with all levels of inter-department personnel including Directors, Managers, Engineering Project Managers, System Engineers, Engineers, and Designer.
  • Interface with all levels of cross-functional department personnel including Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Project Management.
  • Assist engineers in the design of electrical schematics and Electro-Mechanical harnessing.
  • Complete electrical system specifications, technical reports and technical proposals, and follow-up to ensure proper and effective implementation and integration.
  • Assist engineers in report/tracking of electrical engineering problems.
  • Perform design, development, testing and modifications of solutions.
  • Perform internal and external communication of technical and commercial issues.
  • Complete recommendations for new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, interfacing with factory workers, communication with suppliers and customers, and interdepartmental interaction

 

 

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • The ability to interpret customer specification and design electrical schematics in consistency with US (or defined) standards is a must.
  • Interfacing and interpreting system engineering documents is a key part of the design process.
  • The ability to perform complex and technically demanding work within technical or paraprofessional area will be required.
  • Preempts potential problems and provides effective solutions in reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes.
  • Independently seeks complex solutions and unusual problems before contacting others.
  • The role may require providing expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and train lower level employees.
  • The role may require up to 20% of travel.
  • Must be capable of understanding Electrical schematics and read mechanical drawings.
  •  Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or higher.
  • Able to clearly communicate issues, options, benefits, priorities, and recommendations to team members and/or management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and also contribute positively in a team working environment.
  • Adaptable to a variety of tasks and projects with attention to detail.
  • Enjoy working with people from various cultural background.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Elcad or similar 2D electrical design tool
  • SAP
  • Microsoft Visio
  • Microsoft Projects
  • Additional language skills (e.g. German, Spanish or other)
  • Electrical Engineering degree in related field with 5 years’ experience.
  • Proficient knowledge in low and high voltage design.
  • Rail products knowledge is a plus.
