Job Description:

Position Overview

Siemens Distributed Energy Systems is looking for a Principal Project Manager - Hybrid Plant Solutions for their Alpharetta office. We are seeking a candidate who understands and can manage the typically fast pace requirements of a Principal Project Manager position.  The candidate must have 10 - 15 years of combined experience and skills working on complex projects (B or A level) in the power distribution or power generation industries. Prefer someone with an Electrical Engineering background with proven Project Management experience managing Hybrid Plant solutions.  The position requires good time management skills and will be managing several complex projects simultaneously.

 

Responsibilities 

The focus will be on managing projects and project management processes for Hybrid Plants.  Hybrid plants include DER (distributed energy resources) made up of a generation mix using Photovoltaic, Energy Storage, Combined Heat and Power, Engine Diesel Generators, Industrial Turbines and Microgrid Controls.  In addition to the focus area, they will support the Distributed Energy Systems team to evaluate strategic projects for DES stakeholders. This function is responsible for the timely and effective completion of assigned work load. Specific tasks include managing customer relationships, project triple constraints, project execution risks, attending plant walk downs or customer meetings, change order management, PMO processes and documentation, as well as reporting project status to senior management. Additionally, this function provides pre-order support to the Sales Team during the selling cycle of assigned proposals.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

1.  Bachelor’s Degree, Electrical Engineering preferred, other engineering degrees will be considered.

2.  PM@ Siemens Certified (active)

3.  PMI PMP Certification (active)

4.  Minimum 8 years experience managing B or A level projects

5.  Direct experience with execution of utility scale energy storage systems

6.  Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

7.  Applicants will have held specific technical functions such as field service engineer, project engineer, application engineer, etc. for an OEM company, EPC or A&E.
