Power System Simulation Technical Proposal Manager


 

Under the supervision of the Global Head of Software Delivery, this position in Siemens Power Technologies International will lead technical project management, proposal and requirements analysis for the highly sought after PSS®Suite. The position supports technical solution management for a range of technologies within the power generation, transmission and distribution space including but not limited to network planning projects, distributed energy resources programs and custom solution deployment initiatives. The scope of work includes the state of the art technologies in the traditional distribution electric systems as well as futuristic technologies in the transmission planning & distribution marketplace. 


Principal Duties and Responsibilities 
- Provide technical and proposal support for network planning and other transmission and distribution related projects. Tasks may include configuration, testing, deployment, technical project management and custom solution support 
- Assist and/or develop technical project proposals for solutions surrounding the base product suite and custom solutions including business cases, proposed technology solutions and economic analyses 
- Manage project technical requirements, risks, scope, and budget throughout the life of the project
- Engage key stakeholders to ensure adherence to the delivery process and highest standards of quality and customer orientation
- Coordinate with the cross-geographic, multi-disciplinary technical engineering and consulting teams and ensure timely technical decisions to meet project deliverables and Customer technical requirements
- Optimize solution design and delivery approaches/efforts, considering the alignment of resources with clear time and effort tracking through the project lifecycle
Organize, manage and facilitate customer status calls and convey minutes, action items and timelines to all key stakeholders
Provide periodic project status updates (technical and financial) to the leadership team
- Manage customer project surveys, relay customer feedback and lessons learned to all software functions.

Develop accurate project estimates, financial projections, project plans and schedules to execute and manage small to medium-scale projects in- and outside of the Unites States

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements 
Required Skills

       Electric utility experience required in the arena of network planning

       Previous experience working with electric utilities in the T&D space, or electric regulators

       4 – 6 years of experience in power industry

       Minimum of 2 years of successful technical network planning experience using PSS®E, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld

       Minimum of 3 years experience in technical power systems engineering roles in power generation, transmission or distribution

       Proactive personality, creative decision-making abilities and team player

       Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

       Strong organizational and multi-tasking ability

       Strong oral and written communication skills on technical and commercial project topics; must be able to demonstrate solid presentation skills

       Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering or equivalent

       Travel required: 35%

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience 

       Scheduling skills and proficiency using enterprise scheduling applications, such as MS Project

       PE certification and/or 1-2 years technical project management experience in the Power System Software arena is a plus

       Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable
