Job Description:

The Research in Digitalization and Automation (RDA), as part of Siemens Corporate Technology (CT), is at the heart of Siemens R&D. Our deep competence and expertise make us the preferred partner for innovation. We develop technologies with wide applicability so that Siemens may successfully bring innovations to market. Our scientists located around the world help create and retain a technological edge for Siemens in the focus area of automation, electrification and industrial digitalization. 
Siemens CT is seeking an IoT & Cloud Software Architect to be part of our US Distributed Computing Research Group of the Internet of Things Technology Field in Princeton, NJ. The focus will be on architecting advanced IoT, cloud-backed software solutions in collaboration with the Siemens Business Units.
This Technology Field consists of 15 Research Groups in 4 countries (US, Germany, China and Austria). We research in areas ranging from sensors, perception, networks, embedded computing to distributed computing. Our results are building the core of Siemens’ platforms and products.
  • Architect IoT/Cloud projects with Siemens Business Units and implement proof of concepts/feasibility studies
  • Consult on the most complex IoT/cloud projects within Siemens on topics as performance, availability and scalability
  • Hands-on software development and scripting to implement Cloud Proof-of-Concepts, automation and orchestration
  • Define and set up consulting projects & execute them in the role of a technical lead
  • Mentoring and training of new employees & interns
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field is required. Masters in Computer Science or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in relevant areas
  • Experience in architecting highly scalable, highly available and fault tolerant cloud applications
  • Expert knowledge and multi-year hands-on experience of AWS Platform
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation as CloudFormation, Terraform or other tools and Linux administration
  • Hands-on programming skills with Java and either Node.JS/JavaScript, Python or C#
  • Successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US Export Control Law. Preferred Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Consulting experience
  • Familiarity with IoT, machine learning/deep learning and edge computing
  • Proven track record of working with highly distributed development teams across multiple time zones and continents
  • Experience with REST/API-based applications, microservices, container technologies as Docker, CoreOS, Weave, Kubernetes
  • AWS Solution Architect Certification – Professional level
