The Siemens Energy Management Transmission Solutions team provides full turnkey solutions for the following types of projects AIS/GIS/FACTS/HVDC and Grid Access. The successful candidate would be a member of a team providing our customers with these sometimes highly complex solutions. The Senior Protection & Control Engineer is responsible for relay protection and control engineering activities, including detailed design for high voltage substation and transmission projects. This position will offer the ability to directly apply candidate’s knowledge of protective relaying and controls systems in substation and transmission projects.
•Perform analysis and design of single line diagram
•Develop substation relaying & metering diagrams (i.e. A.C. schematic diagrams), and D.C. Schematic diagrams.
•Prepare specification & Bill of Material for Protection/Control/Metering/RTU/ Communication Panels
•Develop the Schematic Diagram for SCADA and Communications interfaces including RTUs, HMIs, and IEDs.
•Develop Protection and Control Panel layouts.
•Develop Protection and Control Panel wiring diagrams.
•Develop Cable Schedule for Substation.
•Perform Factory Acceptance Test for Protection and Control Panels.
•Perform ARC Flash Studies
•Perform reviews of work performed by others
•Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
•This position requires a BSEE with a power systems emphasis from an ABET-accredited engineering program. MSEE is a plus
•8 or more year experience with a focus on protection/control/communications design for high voltage substations.
•Experience in writing and providing support documentation for relay calculations.
•Knowledge on ANSI standards, IEC standards knowledge is a plus.
•Experience with various vendor protective relay equipment typically used in substation. protection, including SEL, Siemens, GE.
•Familiar with Auto-CAD or Micro-Station.
•Good communication skills.
•Professional Engineering license preferred
