Job Description:

Right now, were powering a whole country, finding ways to prevent malaria, making cities smarter, developing renewable energy, designing 3D robots, transporting people at 250 mph and helping NASA explore Mars. Our experience has shown that the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Distributed Computing are key technologies extremely relevant for such innovations. To strengthen our activities, we are seeking an IoT Software & Systems Engineerto be part of our US Distributed Computing Research Group of the Internet of Things Technology Field in Princeton, NJ. 
 
This Technology Field consists of 15 Research Groups in 5 countries (US, Germany, Austria, China and India). We provide distributed/edge computing solutions (smart edge, smart devices) addressing the needs of Industrial IoT (IIoT) applications, from in-field data analytics, distributed machine intelligence, local control, cloud computing to autonomous systems.

Responsibilities 
 

       Identifying, validating, and integrating cutting IoT technology into Siemens OT platforms

       Contributing to research and development projects and collaboration with software engineers, software architects and researchers

       Setting up IoT demonstrators and testbeds (computing, control, networking, sensing, actuation)

       Independently setup, execute and manage smaller R&D projects

       Analyze complex industrial products on performance and scalability, suggest improvements, implement proof of concepts and document and present findings

 
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
  • Hands-on coding experience with C++ required
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering or research
  • Experience with IoT applications
  • Willingness to travel 10% (domestic/international) required
  • Willingness to work with business stakeholders develop understanding of complex business models and industry practices
  • Successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US Export Control Law. Preferred Experience, Education, and Skills
  • Hands-on experience with distributed computing, cloud computing. industrial automation / motion control
  • PhD in computer science or a related field
  • Experience with networking and communication middleware/platforms/protocols in the M2M area, e.g. DDS, CORBA/ACE, MQTT or AMQP
  • Experience programming embedded/resource constraint devices
  • Experience with performance analysis
  • Experience with Cloud computing platforms and Java, JavaScript or Node.JS
