Job Description:

Siemens Intelligent Traffic Systems' business is growing and we're looking to hire a Senior Traffic Engineer to execute ITS Solution projects that will shape the future of transportation. In this role, you will be focusing on Advanced Traffic Management Systems and Smart Cities Solutions - including Connected Vehicle, Autonomous Vehicle, Traffic Management and Adaptive Traffic Control systems.  You will be developing system design documents, technical narrative, developing complete RFP responses, defining winning strategies, and outlining the benefits of Siemens ITS portfolio specific to the customer requirements. This role will report to the Head of Bid and Project Management.
 
Furthermore, you will be asked to lead project teams during project implementation and guarantee meeting business goals and customer satisfaction by executing complex ITS
projects. This role requires thought leadership in the respective solution space, applying
professional engineering practice in ITS industry, leadership and communication skills as well
as a strong background in customer relationship management, proposal management and
project management.
 
Responsibilities for this exciting role will include:
  • Understanding and managing regulating authorities, code requirements, and other industry-specific factors
  • Leading all efforts to generate project specific technical system design, system architecture, scope definition, and concept of operations to meet and exceed customer requirements together with R&D, Product Management, and other Engineering groups.
  • You'll be taking the lead on quotations - including costing and pricing for products and service opportunities to determine proposal feasibility
  • Leading all activities to write proposals, describing technical solution, formulating executive summary, generating customer specific narrative as part of a high quality and professional RFP response
  • Managing interfaces with executive management and other internal stakeholders as well as with customers, partners, suppliers, subcontractors and other external stakeholders.
  • Perform quality checks for all Subject Matter Expert input
 
Bid Coordination
  • Work directly with Sales, Project Management, R&D, Product Management, Procurement, Legal and Field Operations to develop and qualify bids/proposals
  • Review RFP's for feasibility - Complete preparation of offers, bids, proposals, contracts and other sales-related documents required by customers for products, solutions and services
  • Understand customer needs and match them with the Siemens value proposition
  • Present management with suggestions for improving volume, market share and price
  • Manage the individual bid teams and ensure bid and project schedules, milestones, and
    work breakdown structures are understood
 
Project Implementation: 
  • Work directly Sales, Project Management, R&D, Product Management, Procurement, Legal and Field Operations and external partners to successfully deliver projects based on customer requirements
  • Lead project teams and direct Subject Matter Experts, support functions, and third party
    partners to execute customer projects and achieve project targets
 
Customer Interaction: 
  • Provide eloquent and professional communication with vendors, subcontractors,
    contractors and customers
  • Understand the requirements of the customer and match them with the Siemens value proposition
  • Drive external and internal offer approval and release requests and processes in
    expedited manner and with highest quality
 
Minimum Qualifications for this position will include:
  • P.E. License in any of the 50 states
  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering/Transportation Engineering/Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree or MBA preferred
  • PMI certification (or similar) documenting experience in project management
  • 7-10 years successful experience in the ITS industry
  • Knowledge of Siemens product portfolio – SePAC, TACTICS, SCOOT, CONCERT is a
    plus
  • ~30% travel
  • Relocation to Austin, Texas
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision or direction on multiple projects, with varying
    delivery dates, and for multiple stakeholders
