Job Description:

Position Overview
The position will report to the Engineering Manager within the Product Engineering Department, which is a sub-unit within the larger induction motors business based in Norwood, OH, USA.  This
business supports the entire lifecycle – that is, marketing of new products through service and decommissioning – of large induction motors within the Siemens Process Industries and Drives business unit. 
This position will be responsible for overseeing the electrical design of engineered-to-order induction motors.  In addition, This team is accountable for meeting milestone dates on creation of customer-facing performance data documents and bills of material. 
  • Supervise/manage a team of electrical design engineers – includes staffing, performance management, mentoring, and structure of work flow through the team 
  • Offer technical guidance and assess risk to make decisions based on limited data 
  • Coordinate projects to implement product or process improvements 
  • Interface frequently with customers, vendors and other departments within the business
 Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience 
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the engineering field 
  • Demonstrated aptitude for achieving results through leading, managing and/or influencing 
  • Clear communication ability, both written and verbal 
  • 5% travel required 
  • Minimum required skills: 
    • Intermediate-level use of Microsoft Excel and Word 
    • Technical writing 
    • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical colleagues

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience 
  • Prior experience in supervising engineers 
  • Advanced degree in business management or engineering 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of any of the following areas: 
    • Variable frequency drives 
    • Medium voltage insulation design 
    • Power systems analysis/3 phase power 
    • Airflow, heat transfer and thermodynamics
