General Responsibilities/Description
An Application Engineer requires a high level of technical knowledge, commercial knowledge, and good communication skills.

The Application Engineering Professional 3 is defined as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of their area of specialization resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways.  The position requires a broad application of engineering principles, theories and concepts in applicable discipline, plus a working knowledge of other related fields.  At this level, it is expected that little instruction on day-to-day work is required, and only general instructions need to be provided on new assignments.  The AE is expected to determine and develop the approach to solutions; then evaluate their work upon completion to ensure objectives have been met.

The AE must provide resolution to a diverse scope and range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors and needs to demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The AE must demonstrate good communication skills in order to frequently present complex subject matter to both internal and external customers.   An AE’s failure to obtain results or to make erroneous judgments or recommendations would normally have serious results and may require substantial expenditure of resources to correct and/or achieve organizational goals.

Scope of Responsibilities
A senior engineer can quickly discern and address technical areas of concern; write, review, and comment to equipment specifications; pinpoint design features; determine value of proposition and opportunity; accurately estimate costs of materials and labor components to implement a design solution; generate a thorough and accurate technical/commercial sales proposal; and most important is to effectively communicate all of the above to bridge the gap between operations, marketing, sales, contractors, and ultimately our customers.

 Specific Job Functions

Develop Aerodynamic and Mechanical Revamp/Upgrade Options to address Client needs/concerns

Develop cost model for proposed solution (hardware, labor, engineering, buy-out, risk, travel, and commercial instrument costs)

Develop technical/commercial proposals and present data to customers (internal, and external as required)

  • Performance & mechanical details
  • Payback analysis (value calculations)
  • Scope of supply, price, and delivery

Facilitate order entry and commercial review of Client Purchase Agreement
