Job Description:

3rd Shift start/end time 6:00pm to 6:00am



(Brief Summary of duties):

Process Control Technologist to support of automated assembly for second shift manufacturing production lines with duties to resolve day-to-day equipment downtime and recovery.

This position will report to the lead engineer to help maintain the run ability of  production lines resolving process equipment issues and assisting in enhancements  productivity, quality, and safety based goals.

Job Family Specific Responsibilities:

Work closely with supervisors, skilled trades, production operators, and site engineers to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to maintain efficient production line operations

Key Responsibilities

(Problem Solving, Critical Thinking):

Provide the first line of support  for the manufacturing equipment on the second shift. Troubleshoot root level diagnostics on the Sensory, Instrumentation, PLCs, Servo Motion drives and all other related manufacturing process equipment. Provide feedback to the lead engineer on daily issues and solutions. Interface with team leaders to support business unit objectives. Assist in implementation and validation of software changes to the process equipment as needed.

Proficiency with PLCs (Allen Bradley ControlLogix, and Siemens PLC) systems and associated Servo drives is required. Experience with Cognex vision systems, HMI, Allen-Bradley/Emerson Servo Drive systems, and ABB robotic systems would be an advantage. The ability to read and understand electrical schematics is required. Proficiency with AutoCad 2012 is desired.  Previous work in a cGMP/FDA compliant facility is desired. Proficiency in troubleshooting techniques is key to resolving down-time issues when the equipment is running production. Results are measurable through improved OAE/OEE metrics which include Yield and Utilization factors.

The position provides the opportunity to significantly impact line efficiencies and business results.

The position will require a comprehensive understanding of all elements of the manufacturing lines to ensure downstream operations are not adversely affected by ‘on the spot’ responses to issues.

This position requires co-operation and communication with management, engineers, supervisors, skilled trades and production operators

Direction of Others:


Work with the skilled trades and operators to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in a team environment. The position would be expected to provide guidance and leadership to the skilled trades to resolve technical issues, prioritize issues, and provide options to the supervisor for the best business decision.


Key Working Relationships:

Work with the production line team leaders and skilled trades to resolve process issues encountered in a timely manner to minimize lost production time. Provide technical recommendations and feedback to team leaders for problem solving. Communicate all issues and resolutions back to the lead engineer. Participate as a validation tester for engineering projects.
